ANNOUNCEMENTS
Larsen Hall-Center for Global Learning entrance -- Beginning Tuesday, April 3, the exterior door located on the west side of the building will be continuously locked similar to all other residence hall entrances. For those who need to access the Center for Global Learning or the Larsen 120 classroom, please have your Luther ID with you to use the card access system and enter the building. This step has been taken in order to improve security for residents living in Larsen Hall.
The Mountaintop, winner of the prestigious Olivier Award for Best New Play, is rife with humor and political jabs, while giving us a glimpse at the human side of Martin Luther King Jr. Hours after his famed final speech, punctuated by the immortal line, "I've been to the mountaintop," the celebrated Reverend reveals his hopes, regrets, and fears, creating a masterful bridge between mortality and immortality. Fifth Annual Faculty Research Symposium, Saturday, April 7 - Students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited. Sessions begin at 9:30 am with welcome, introductions, and coffee in Valders Concourse, with presentations continuing in concurrent sessions in Valders 206 and Valders 262.  Click here to see this year's schedule.

LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE! April 6 is the due date for books checked out from the Main Stacks by students on or before Wednesday, March 28. Books may be renewed once online or by bringing them in physically to the circulation desk if you have exceeded the renewal limit. The new due date is May 18, the last day of Spring term. Click on "Library Account" online and sign in with your NorseKey to see what you have checked out and when it is due.

The Student Research Symposium celebrates the vibrant intellectual life and learning at Luther. Students will share their research and creative work. This year's Symposium will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018. Classes are suspended for the day, to allow all community members to participate. The Symposium will highlight the best fruits of the scholarship, research, and creative activity of students from disciplines across the college.

J-TERM 2019 IN VIETNAM: The Paideia 450 course "Stability and Change in Vietnam" will hold an informational meeting on Thursday, April 5 at 8:00 p.m. in the Dahl Centennial Union, Mott Room.

Entrepreneurial Showcase and Erdman Award - The Economics, Accounting, and Management Department cordially invites a ll students  to the 32nd Annual Entrepreneurial Showcase, Erdman Award ceremony, and dinner. Keynote speaker Sarah (Ruble) Sladek '94 is the Founder and CEO of XYZ University, one of the nation's first generation-focused companies. The event and meal are FREE but you must register by April 10 by emailing flinte01@luther.edu . Tuesday, April 17, Peace Dining, 4:30-7:00pm.  
Wondering how to keep track of your sources, create a bibliography and footnotes? Zotero (a free application) helps you collect, manage, and cite your sources with a click of a button. Bring your laptop to our workshop and learn how to download Zotero and set it up to manage your resources (available for PCs and MACs). Wednesday, April 4, 7:00 p.m., in Preus Library, Hovde Room.
Miko Peled, son of a famous Israeli General and the author of two books,
will speak on Friday, April 13 at 7 pm in the CRH.  After losing a niece to a Palestinian suicide bomber, Peled joined a group of bereaved families from both sides of the conflict, and became a critic of Israeli politics and an activist for Palestinian human rights. His talk is free and open to the public. College Dance Marathon will host its fifth annual Big Event 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, April 7 in the Regents Center. Community hours, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. will include games, bouncy houses, face painting and a silent auction. Free will donations will be accepted.  
 
J-Term in Roatan: Information Session -- The island of Roatan, Honduras, is home to the world's second largest coral reef, the tourist industry it supports, and a long history of colonialism that has left the island with an ethnically-divided population, widespread poverty and environmental degradation. This course uses Roatan as a case study in ethical engagement in the developing world. Come and learn more about the course and its opportunities for you. Book Shop's 80th Birthday Party -- On Friday, April 6 stop in and party with the Book Shop Crew. The Book Shop is celebrating 80 years of serving Luther College and the community. Enjoy cake, and great in-store promos!

The Diversity Center will have a Decorah Walmart shopping shuttle running from 2:00-5:00 pm on SUNDAY, APRIL 8 .  This is open to all students and there is no charge, but reservations are requested, please register here. 

Try your hand at gardening this season! Whether you are a master gardener or beginner all students, staff and faculty of Luther College are welcome to rent a plot in the Community Garden. Full plots are 20'x20' and are $30. Half plots are 10'x20' and are $20. Student plots are 10'x10' and are $10. Payment is due by May 1, please send payment to Sarah Forsythe, Valders 372b. Checks made out to Luther Community Garden. Questions? Contact Sarah Forsythe. Spots are limited so sign up!

Luther College faculty and staff are eligible for a 50 percent reimbursement (up to $100) on Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares. Check out participating farms and sign up today to participate in the  Luther CSA Reimbursement Program ! The reimbursement will be handled through Payroll this year. This program is co-sponsored by the Health Care Fund, Wellness Program and Center for Sustainable Communities.


Classical MPR will host Bring the Sing
on Saturday, April 14 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) -- an open choral event for voices of all abilities junior high level and above. The event will consist of a rehearsal and recording of several songs. Find information and registration at classicalmpr.org . Advanced registration is encouraged. Participants will be required to sign and submit a media release form due to audio and video recording taking place during the event.

Internationally renowned artist Chris Kienke's
exhibit "You Promised Me Poems," will be on display Tuesday, April 3 through Friday, April 27, in the Kristin Wigley-Fleming Fine Arts Gallery in the Center for the Arts. There will be an artist's talk at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26, in the CFA, Room 203, and a reception at 4 p.m. Friday, April 27, in the Kirstin Wigley-Fleming Fine Arts Gallery.
RERUNS
Are you interested in being on Luther's prescribed fire crew? You need to attend a burn crew training session: Wednesday, April 4, 6:30 p.m. in Valders 262. Get out and enjoy Luther's natural areas in the spring! Participate in spring volunteer events including prescribed fires and garlic mustard control. Email Prof. Molly McNicoll if you would like to receive emails regarding these opportunities.  Students, faculty, staff, and community members are encouraged to participate.

Area women of all ages will have an opportunity to learn more about financial management, retirement and estate planning, and charitable giving at the 14th annual Women, Faith and Finance seminar on Friday, April 6.  Hosted by Luther College, the one-day educational seminar will be presented 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Hotel Winneshiek in Decorah. The program is open to the public; registration is required.

Oludamini Ogunnaike will discuss women in Sufism during his lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 5, in the Center for Faith and Life, Recital Hall. The lecture title is "The Role of Women in African Sufism." He will also speak in chapel at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 6.
