ANNOUNCEMENTS
Baccalaureate Vespers  - a celebration and sending for the class of 2018 will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 26 in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life. The celebratory worship service includes hymns, choir anthems, prayers and blessing for graduates and their families. Rooted in the college's Lutheran Christian heritage and our confidence in God's care for all people of the earth, this ecumenical service includes prayer petitions that celebrate the diversity of religious traditions represented in the graduating class.

Planetarium Star Shows! Students, staff, and community members are all invited to the free planetarium star shows this Sunday, May 20 at 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m. at the Planetarium, Valders 205. Each show will be forty-five minutes long. Come and join in one last star gazing hoorah as we bring the school year to a close! Find the event on Facebook at Planetarium Star Show.

Attention Students: Do you have left over work-study hours and are interested in working during commencement?  The Campus Programming Office is looking for 4 to 6 students to help load-in sound equipment Saturday, May 26 and load out equipment on Sunday, May 27 after commencement.  If interested, email lescje01 or call x1538 for more details.
 
Textbook Buyback: Do you have any books you no longer want to keep? Would you like to sell them and get cash? Bring them to the Book Shop Tuesday-Thursday, May 22-24 between 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. No receipts necessary. 
 
Textbook Rental Returns: Reminder - any books rented for the spring 2018 term, from the Luther Book Shop, are due to return no later than Thursday, May 24 by 4:45 p.m. Please don't leave campus with your rented books. Contact the Book Shop if you have questions.

The Dorian Choral Retreat will be hosted at Luther College from June 29 through July 1 with the culminating event, "Livssang," at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 1, in the Center for Faith and Life, Main Hall. A presentation of all the choral music rehearsed throughout the weekend, "Livssang" provides a musical finish to the retreat. The Dorian Choral Retreat is available to anyone interested who is at least 19 years of age. Click here for more information.

Luther College Professor Book Signing : Saturday, May 26 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Associate Professor of English, Amy Weldon will be signing her new book, The Hands on Life.
 
 

RERUNS
LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE! May 18 is the due date for books checked out from the Main Stacks by students on or before Sunday, May 13. Books may be renewed once online or by bringing them in physically to the circulation desk if you have exceeded the renewal limit. The new due date is June 29, the last day of the first Summer Term. Click on "Library Account" online and sign in with your NorseKey to see what you have checked out and when it is due.

Commissioning Sunday - Graduating seniors will be recognized and blessed on Sunday, May 20 at the 10 a.m. morning worship, with a special recognition of those who will be pursuing theological education or service in the church and community after graduation. If you will be able to participate in the service, please email  [email protected]. If you know your future plans (even if they are tentative) include that information as well.

Moo Mobile and Pie a Prof 2018:  Join SAC Special Events and Alpha Phi Omega Saturday, May 19, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Library Lawn for milkshakes, lawn games, and the chance to pie profs. 1 Milkshake is free with CAF or $2 without, "pies" are $1 each.  

Retirement Open House - After a combined 55 years of teaching at Luther College (that is c. 365 courses, c. 7,370 students, c. 2,277 Paideia research papers, and c. 495 faculty meetings) Jackie Wilkie and Edward Tebbenhoff are retiring. Please join the History Department for an open house in their honor, Saturday, May 19, 3-5 p.m. in Qualley Lounge, CFL. RSVP not required, but appreciated. Contact Heather Frey.
 
2018 Peace Scholars - The Center for Ethics and Public Engagement is pleased to announce the Luther College Peace Scholars for 2018: Rebecka Green '19 and Max Eness '20.  Rebecka and Max will join other Peace Scholars from the U.S. in Lillehammer, Norway, for a week-long workshop at the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue. They will then spend five weeks participating in the International Summer School at the University of Oslo. Congratulations to them both!

Check out the lost & found table in front of the Center for Faith and Life. Lots of water bottles, and many misc. items.
