DID YOU KNOW YOU HAVE LESS THEN TWO MINUTES TO ESCAPE?
Electrical fires are one of the fastest spreading fires.
Once they start,
you have only 2 minutes
to get out of the building.
SMOKE IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN FIRE
In most cases, it's
not fire
that kills people but the smoke that it produces.
|
|
May is National Electrical Safety Month and the Electrical Safety Foundation International is spearheading its annual effort to educate the public about the steps that can be taken in order to reduce the number of
electrically related fires, fatalities, injuries and property loss.

Camp includes traditional camp activities such arts and crafts, fishing, river rafting, rock climbing wall, live music as well as many other fun family activities. The program is designed to promote self-confidence, reinforcing the camp’s goal of building the campers’ self-esteem. Senior citizens are at particularly high risk of scalds, burn injury and death from accidental fires. Changes in vision, comprehension and mobility that accompany aging, combined with medication side effects and attitudinal risks, put seniors at higher risk than younger adults of burns and scalds. The Grossman Burn Foundation and the Grossman Burn Center are jointly addressing this risk by offering a no-charge burn prevention presentation for seniors and those who work with the elderly. Burn Prevention for Seniors addresses burn injury and death statistics, risk factors, degrees of burn, common senior burns and their prevention and first aid. The program, available in English or Spanish, takes about 45 minutes and each participant receives reading material and prevention items to use in the home.

Donations received are earmarked for a variety of burn survivor recovery and support programs at the Grossman Burn Center.
Through the Grossman Burn Foundation Support Programs, the Grossman Burn Center does not just treat patients—it heals them. The funds needed for programs are a critically important part of the healing process and long-term recovery of our burn survivors.
Support the Grossman Burn Center's direct patient assistance efforts, help fund its annual Family Camp and provide temporary housing for families of burn survivors receiving treatment at West Hills Hospital's Grossman Burn Center.
