Spring is when the Blue Ridge Parkway beckons us all back to the mountains, and reminds us of what a special place we have in our midst. We're ready to get out and enjoy all it has to offer, and (even better) dig in to make it stronger. That's why we're excited to announce a new list of giving opportunities
selected to reflect the facets of our mission: historical and cultural preservation, environmental protection, visitor amenities, and educational outreach.
Your gifts will determine what we can accomplish.
You can support the projects that mean the most to you or focus on the overall protection of the park. No matter how you choose to give, we thank you for investing in the future of one of the most treasured landscapes in our country.

Thanks to you, many of the overlooks on the southern end of the Parkway have been cleared and now offer travelers the beautiful long-range views that the park designers originally intended. In April, the National Park Service's Arborist Incident Response team removed trees and vegetation at overlooks from milepost 420 to 435, and the results are incredible!
Another clearing will be scheduled in the fall, and you can still give. When you donate $100 or more to the Renew the Views program, you will receive a lithograph of

Remake History at the Denim Ball

 The wait is over! Tickets are now on sale for the third annual Denim Ball to benefit Moses H. Cone Memorial Park. The event will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, August 3, at Chetola Resort at Blowing Rock.
It's the most comfortable ball of the year with dressy denim as the outfit of choice. The night by the lake will include music by the
Jeff Little Trio

Parkway Place Photo Challenge
There are lots of spots on the Parkway that welcome dogs on a leash, but they don't have a sign as adorable as this one. This location is a great stop to shop for crafts and grab food to enjoy on the picnic tables.

Many thanks for your help on Project Parkway day!
Because of you, the Project Parkway volunteer clean-up day was a huge success. All eight campgrounds on the Parkway were spruced up in three hours by 200 volunteers on April 21. Volunteers of all ages and skill levels worked to clean and replace fire pits, clear leaves and limbs, build stairs, replace fire pits, and more. We can't wait to participate in this event again next year.

For each attractive license plate sold, $20 goes toward important projects on the scenic route, and $10 funds the N.C. Department of Transportation Wildflower Program.

Ready. Set. Find Your Pint!
Our Find Your Pint beer series is back for its third installment with plenty of chances to participate. Originally a two-month event, Find Your Pint has expanded to partner with
breweries and cideries throughout the year to raise funds for the Blue Ridge Parkway with special beer rele
ases and
events.
First on your must-visit list is
Bhramari Brewing Company in Asheville. The great folks there are donating $1 from every pint of their brew, Painted Fortune, sold from May 15 to June 14 to the Fou
ndation to support our
Bee Kind to the Blue Ridge Parkway
citizen science project. Come raise a glass for the bees and the Parkway!

 The Blue Ridge Music Center's first event of the season,
JAM & Family Day, on Saturday, May 19, welcomes students of the Junior Appalachian Musicians program to take part in instrument workshops and more throughout the day.
Children can also participate in a guided family hike, Junior Park Ranger activities, or a musical craft project. Sign up begins at 10 a.m., and activities last throughout the day.
The venue will welcome back Amythyst Kiah and Her Chest of Glass to the outdoor amphitheater on Saturday, May 26. Kiah's commanding stage presence is matched by her raw and powerful vocals, a deeply moving, hypnotic sound that echoes a distant and restless past. Provocative and coolly fierce, she crosses the boundaries of blues and old-time music through her modern reinterpretations. The show opens at 7 p.m. with Wild Ponies.
The Foundation proudly supports programming at the Blue Ridge Music Center, milepost 213 on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Galax, Virginia, to preserve the cultural and musical heritage of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Road to the Past
The final Parkway facilities come back to life for the season on May 25, including picnic areas like Cumberland Knob, shown in this 1946 photograph. The visitor centers at Rocky Knob and Linn Cove and the Mabry Mill Cultural Center reopen the same day. One exception is the James River Visitor Center, which is slated to welcome visitors by the end of June.

Road Advisory
The National Park Service recently announced that more than 65 miles of the route between milepost 359 and 469 will be resurfaced as part of a pavement preservation program. Work begins this month and continues through September.
