RESNA 2018 will feature the

Yih-Kuen is an Associate Professor and Director of Rehabilitation Engineering Lab at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC)
. His research focuses on the development of assistive devices and technologies and the promotion of social inclusion for people with disabilities. Within RESNA, He is the Chair of Scientific Papers, a member of the Assistive Technology Standards Board (ATSB), and a member of the Research Committee.
RESNA members Heidi Koester, PhD of Koester Performance Research and Rich Simpson, PhD of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh have publicly released Scanning Wizard-a new and free software tool. Scanning Wizard helps users of switch scanning devices set up their switch and scanning software to best meet their needs.

OTJR is currently accepting papers that undertake rigorous empirical or conceptual investigations by inquiring into the links between occupational perspectives and occupational therapy practices as they relate to the use of such technologies. Deadline: July 30, 2018.

Sam Schmidt, the former Indy car racer with C3-4-5 quadriplegia who recently raced Mario Andretti in adapted Corvettes, has appeared on Jay Leno's Garage. This seven-minute segment does a great job showcasing the emerging technology that could be a game changer for those with high-level injuries who want to drive independently.

RESNA is seeking nominations for the annual RESNA awards, which recognize individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the field of assistive technology and rehabilitation engineering or their service to RESNA.
Deadline: April 13th, 2018
The premiere annual student competition that showcases creative and innovative assistive technology designs that help people with disabilities function more independently. Teams represent disciplines including mechanical, electrical, and biomedical engineering; computer information science; architecture; and physical and occupational therapy. Only undergraduate and masters level graduate students currently enrolled in a college or university are eligible to apply.

"The Advancement of Assistive and Rehabilitation Technology in ATSUGI"
JCAART (Japanese Conference on the Advancement of Assistive and Rehabilitation Technology) is
August 29, 2018 to August 31, 2018. This is a great opportunity to discuss assistive technology for persons with disabilities. This conference is for persons in the field of engineering, medical science, social welfare, education and government if you are interested in the application of rehabilitation engineering.
LiveWell RERC is sponsoring an app development competition for middle, high school, and college students as well as non-professional developers. Three winning apps will be selected to receive a cash award. We will also select two apps at random for prizes, so we encour
age you to submit your project even if you have simple app. Competition opens immediately and judging will take place in May, 2018.
Submissions are due by May 1, 2018.
Improving access to assistive technology was discussed by WHO's Executive Board last week. With great leadership from the governments of Pakistan and Ecuador, Member States agreed on the wording of a draft resolution, and recommended that it be adopted during this year's World Health Assembly in May.
The draft resolution was co-sponsored by 32 Member States: Algeria, Australia, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Ghana, Haiti, Indonesia, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, New Zealand, Pakistan, Panama, Philippines, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Thailand, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Republic of Tanzania, Venezuela, and Zambia.

AgrAbility released a resource guide to assist farmers, ranchers, employees, and family members with issues related to aging, chronic health issues, and living with disabilities. It takes an 'Ag for Life' perspective, helping families maintain a quality of life for successful production across generations.
This course reviews complex rehab technology coding and coverage changes that have occurred over the last 5 years - specifically: CRT mobility, wheelchair seating, and wheelchair options and accessories. The course will analyze the impact these changes have had on access, identify any policy making trends and discuss recent changes or on-going initiatives to bring about needed change. To earn .1 CEU, the participant must score 70 or above to earn credit. Email Annette Hodges at
