FROM THE DIRECTOR

As many of you know, the greatest barrier to stable housing in our community is the lack of affordable rentals.  The average 2-3 bedroom rental costs $1200-$1500 a month.  That would require the many single mothers we provide services for to earn $20 an hour to consider it affordable.  When you add in the costs of childcare they would have to earn even more, because if they were fortunate enough to earn $20 an hour, they would no longer qualify for child care assistance.  It is a double edged sword in many cases.  Unfortunately, there are not many opportunities available in the community for our families to earn an income like that to afford the available housing.

Fortunately, FPSSC's Board of Trustees is forward thinking enough to consider expanding our programs and services to address this issue.  We are currently developing programs to assist our families in being able to afford the cost of rentals and would love your support in the 2018 Giving Challenge for our programs to maximize your donation dollars by getting them matched 1:1 up to $100 by The Patterson Foundation.  Our goal is to make sure the families we serve can afford to stay in our wonderful community and keep their children in the same schools and day cares to give them the stability they need to thrive.

Thank you for all you do!
Sincerely,

Jennifer Fagenbaum, Executive Director
