Updates from Mission Valley ROP's
Nursing Assistant Program

Thank you for your continued support as an advisory member for Mission Valley ROP's Nursing Assistant Program. Mrs. Brucker would like to continue to collaborate with all of you community partners as related to the Nursing Assistant program!
New Partnerships

As we continue to collaborate together with the students in the Nursing Assistant Program, additional new partnerships have joined the externship and clinical rotations that will enhance learning and hands-on skills throughout this school year. This includes Masonic Homes of California and Brookdale Fremont Senior Living Solutions.

New learning opportunities are offered at the new partnership sites which include, but is not limited to: assisted living, memory care, nursing home, visiting residents to enhance their living status, and participating with the senior residents with various activities in their own personal living site and the home. In addition, visits to home care sites with the primary nurse or HHA and additional experiences to enhance their health care education in the various departments in acute care.
MVROP HOSA

MVROP HOSA (Future Health Professionals) chapter is busy reaching out to those in need with supporting NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) our national HOSA cause to engage and educate our community about mental illness. The chapter also volunteered to be hosts at the annual  MVROP Back to School Night and MVROP Fall Advisory Meeting. Members of HOSA coordinated and collected over 2000 food items/non-perishable for LOV (League of Volunteers),  a Tri-City Food Bank, and Amazing Hearts. Many members will be traveling to Anaheim to attend and compete at the annual Spring Leadership Conference (SLC) in April 2018! Good luck to all participants!
Learning to Feed

Nursing Students from both the morning and afternoon classes had the opportunity to learn and practice hands-on skills on how to feed patients properly. Students brought various food items such as jello, yogurt, and mac and cheese. The students learned many proper techniques to "feeding patients" and also had a great time practicing on each other.
Get involved by hosting a field trip or come in the classroom and be a guest speaker.
