LOGIX Joins INCOMPAS

INCOMPAS welcomed LOGIX Fiber Networks, the largest Texas-based
independent fiber network provider, to the association. LOGIX Chief Financial Officer Patrick Lentz also will join the INCOMPAS Board of Directors.

Patrick Lentz
"This is an excellent opportunity to help leverage our financial, marketing and operating experience," said Lentz. "We are excited to work closely with INCOMPAS both to help grow and protect the interests of fiber operators."

In January 2018, LOGIX completed its acquisition of INCOMPAS member Alpheus Communications, a provider of metro-regional fiber and networking solutions that owned facilities in the Texas markets of Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston (the "DASH" markets). LOGIX now has more than 6,200 route miles of network spanning 225,000 fiber miles, and serves more than 12,500 enterprise and carrier customers across the state. In addition to connecting to more than 80 data centers in Texas, LOGIX operates its own high-performance data center facilities in the DASH markets.

"As the leading fiber network operator in Texas, LOGIX is a great example of how a competitive marketplace can generate significant opportunities to build strong, growing businesses that deliver innovative wholesale and retail services," said INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering. "We are proud to welcome LOGIX to INCOMPAS and look forward to the company's active participation on our board, as well as in advocacy efforts and business-building through networking with other service providers and vendors in our membership."
FCC Announces Tentative Agenda for April Open Meeting
The FCC announced the tentative agenda for its April Open Meeting, which includes:
  • Protecting National Security Through FCC Programs - The FCC will consider an NPRM to ensure that universal service support is not used to purchase equipment or services from companies posing a national security threat to the integrity of communications networks or the communications supply chain.
  • Spectrum Frontiers Auctions Public Notice - The FCC will consider a Public Notice that would seek comment on the procedures for the auctions of Upper Microwave Flexible Use Service licenses in the 28 GHz and 24 GHz bands.
  • Streamlining Licensing Procedures for Small Satellites - The FCC will consider a NPRM that proposes a new, alternative application process designed for a class of satellites referred to as "small satellites."
  • Rural Call Completion - The FCC will consider a Report and Order and FNPRM that will adopt new measures, and seek comment on others, to better tackle the problem of call completion and ensure that calls are completed to all Americans-including those in rural America.
  • Business Data Services for Model-Based Rate-of-Return Carriers - The FCC will consider an NPRM to enable model-based rate-of-return carriers to elect incentive regulation for their lower-speed business data services offerings, and to remove ex ante pricing regulation for packet-based and higher-speed circuit-based offerings.
  • Cable Channel Lineup Requirements - The FCC will consider an NPRM proposing to eliminate the requirement that cable operators maintain a channel lineup at their local office and seeking comment on eliminating the requirement that certain cable operators make their channel lineup available via their online public inspection file.7.
  • Rules Governing Ancillary/Supplementary Services - The FCC will consider a R&O that would revise Section 73.624(g) of its rules to reduce broadcaster reporting obligations relating to the provision of ancillary or supplementary services.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 17, at 10:30 a.m. at FCC headquarters in Washington, D.C., and will be streamed live at www.fcc.gov/live
