Monthly On-Campus Update
April

Home Stretch
Spring break is over, and it's time to buckle down and make the rest of the semester count! Barely staying afloat? We urge you to remember the myriad resources available to you: tutoring, counseling and medical help are all a phone call away. If you're struggling with something, don't let it affect your studies; talk to your hall or apartment staff to see what can be done to turn it around.

There are also several fun events scheduled for this month. Scroll down for a list of what's going on, and have some fun with your community! This may be your last few weeks with some of your neighbors.

Sincerely,
Your HDS staff

You'll be sampling their 'cue as it's carved in the dining rooms. So, come one, come all to the Spring Fling BBQ Thing. It's guaranteed to be GBD (golden brown and delicious)!

K-State Libraries
Apply now for the Kirmser Undergraduate Research Award

Did you know you could win $1,000 for research you've already completed?
K-State Libraries is currently accepting applications for the fifth annual Kirmser Undergraduate Research Award.
There are three major categories:
  • Individual freshman projects: $1,000 grand prize
  • Individual undergraduate projects, non-freshman: $1,000 grand prize
  • Undergraduate group project: minimum $2,000 grand prize
"We have designed the award to recognize projects that reflect thoughtful, well-executed use of library sources in their research," said Cindy Logan, Kirmser Award committee chair. "We hope students from across the university will consider applying, because we've had past winners in fields ranging from French to biosystems engineering to psychology. No one major has a lock on this prize!"

Research projects don't necessarily have to be in the form of a traditional research paper. Regardless of final research format, all applicants must complete an essay of up to 1,000 words that details their research process and the scholarly resources they used.

The application deadline is April 18. For more information and complete guidelines, visit the Kirmser Undergraduate Research Award website
