MINISTER SIGURDSON TAKING MEDICAL LEAVE

Lori Sigurdson, Minister of Seniors and Housing, will be taking a leave from her work at the legislature following a diagnosis of acute promyelocytic leukemia. During her absence, Minister Irfan Sabir will be acting Minister of Seniors and Housing.

We are sorry to hear about Minister Sigurdson's diagnosis and wish her the best as she takes leave to get well.

Good news for lovers of Farmers Markets. The CD Fresh Express Bus is making a stop at Central Lions Seniors Recreation Centre every Tuesday. This locally-owned travelling farmers market bus is loaded with produce sourced as locally as possible and sometimes baked goods. The bus is open to everyone. This news story gives some background on the initiative.

Many of us have a family member or a friend who is getting ready or is already living in a long-term care facility. Among the stress of being separated due to declining health, it is important that we all understand how to advocate and express our concerns in a proactive and productive manner.

This session aims to help to alleviate further stress and inform you on how to establish partnerships, share your concerns, have them heard and identify solutions when receiving care or services within an Alberta Health Services owned or contracted provider site.
