Youth Mentoring Program Escapes!

Proving how we are stronger together, a group of mentors and mentees were able to successfully solve the mysteries and emerge unscathed from the Escape Room

A big thanks to our friends at the Escape Room Concord for donating such a great experience!
A Fresh Start

It is becasue of supporters like you that we are able to share stories of success.  The story below is about a new family, a new commitment to a life together, and a new resolve.

Kaitlin Cook and Frank Pickering arrived at our program in January of 2018. Kaitlin was past her due date and was expecting the couple's first child at any time. They were coming from what most would consider a rough way of living. These adults had been living in a tent in homeless camps in Concord through all seasons for the last two and a half years. There, the couple faced loss of possessions from fire and theft. They dealt with brutal cold, food insecurity and incessant drug activity. The impending birth of their child hardened their resolve to improve their lives and make significant changes. This is the couple as they arrived to our program; determined and ready.   Continue reading here .

Thank you for supporting the Emergency Housing Program with financial donations, items from our wish list and MyRegistry , and donating your time and talents to serve our residents.
Thank You

The Friends Program would like to thank Beaux Woods Contractors and Liberty Utilities for being 2018 Emergency Housing Program Supporters.

John Wuellenweber, owner Beaux Woods Contractors, LLC:

"I choose to be a 2018 Business Sponsor for the Friends Emergency Housing Program because homelessness can happen to anyone.  No one plans to be homeless. No one wants their kids sleeping in a campground, in a car, or on a friends sofa.  However, the lack of affordable housing options leaves families little choice.  I want to be part of the solution and supporting the Friends Program is my way of doing that."

John Shore, Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications:

"Liberty Utilities is very proud to sponsor the Friends Program, Emergency Housing Program. This program provides critical services for those families in need of emergency housing. We stand behind the Emergency Housing Program and their effort to break to cycle of homelessness."

Personal Safety Workshop

In March, Foster Grandparents and RSVP volunteers attended a Personal Safety Workshop with guest speaker John Clark, a  safety awareness professional who volunteered his time for this event.

Attendees learned about the importance of awareness, the importance of a clear evacuation procedure, and also the importance of understanding one's own goal of personal safety while in a school setting.

This workshop could not have happened without generous donations from the Goodlife Program, Panera Bread, and Smokeshow Barbecue
.
Board of Trustees Welcomes

The Friends Program is pleased to announce that Chris Senko has joined the Board of Trustees.

Chris was most recently the Director of Medical Staff Services at Catholic Medical Center. She has served as President of the Shaker Road School Parent Teacher Group and the Junior Service League of Concord.  She continues to volunteer for the Girl scouts,  as well as other committees.  She has lived in Concord since 1996.   Read more here .

We are all very happy to have you join the Friends Program!
