NEWS & NOTES
Safety Notes

Thank you for your continued efforts in supporting a smooth and efficient car line for everyone! Today's drop-off went beautifully, and we will continue to learn and adapt our processes in the days to come.

Drop-off Safety
We appreciate your consideration for the safety of everyone. Please remember that all students should exit the car from the curb side only. We ask that parents open the car door for their child (if the child is unable to do so independently) so staff can avoid contact with your vehicle. Please exit your car carefully as others may be driving by at the same time.

Early Pick-up Reminder
If you need to pick your child up early, please let the teacher know ahead of time (if possible) and the child(ren) will be ready at their normal end-of-day pick-up spot. If you have not notified the teacher, please call the school at 302-475-0555, allowing at least 30 minutes advance notice.

Thank you!
Thanks for training your children to wear masks. It has gone so smoothly, and just as Maria Montessori knew, our children are quite capable of learning new routines and often surpass adult expectations.
Policies & Procedures

WMS's COVID-19 policies are based on guidelines from the CDC and Delaware's Office of Child Care Licensing. We continue to monitor those sources for information to adjust our policies and practices as needed.
Spotlight on Outdoor Learning
At WMS, outdoor education is more than just moving classroom materials outside or playing outdoors. Our unique campus allows teachers to integrate the environment into the curriculum and provides easy access to the woods and creek, even for our youngest learners. During our first days of school, students are getting to know their new environment - including their classmates, teachers and the "lay of the land." In future weeks, we look forward to sharing more details of our outdoor curriculum and activities. Stay tuned!
Bloomz is up and running!

All WMS families should have received invitations to Bloomz by now. If you haven't already done so, please accept your invitation and make sure you can see your child's classroom. Also, please check your account settings and make sure notifications are turned on so that you receive email or push alerts when new content is posted - teachers and administration will be using Bloomz for time-sensitive reminders, and along with sharing information about classroom activities and individual photos of your child each week.

If you have questions or need assistance setting up your account (once you receive your invitation), please contact Noel Dietrich.
Back-to-School Photo Contest 2020

Our back-to-school photo contest is underway! While this year's photos may look a bit different, they still capture the joy in our children as we start the new year!

There's still time to post your favorite first-day-of-school photos on Instagram using our #wmsbacktoschool hashtag. Each submission counts as an entry in a raffle to win a special prize. Don't forget to tag @wilmingtonmontessori on Instagram!

Photos can also be emailed to noel_dietrich@wmsde.org.

We can't wait to see your photos!
The Wednesday Weekly shares WMS news and events that are relevant to the families in our community.

Please send submissions to wednesday-weekly@wmsde.org by 4:30 p.m. on the Friday prior to the issue in which you wish to include your information. Content may be edited for length and style and may be held for a future issue due to space constraints.
