Talent Recruitment Event - Employer Registration

Deadline to register is Thursday, March 22

With the Welcome Home, Hickory Metro weekend, our area anticipates hosting 50+ talented individuals with tremendous skills and high character from our nation's Armed Forces to interview for your open positions. These folks are traveling in from Fort Bragg, Seymour Johnson, Camp Lejeune and coming right to our doorstep for a Hiring Event on Saturday, April 21 at the Hickory Metro Convention Center.

18 veterans/spouses have already registered and their skills are simply off the charts - here's a small sampling:
  • A Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) with a Master's Degree in IT, their Project Management Professional Certification and 8 years in the Army as a Network Switching Systems Operator
  • A jet engine mechanic in the National Guard for 16 years that has added skills as a Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician (CAMT)
  • A logistics officer (currently telecommuting to the Defense Logistics Agency in D.C.) with extensive supply chain and federal contracting experience
  • An Army spouse with a Masters Degree (Social Services) who has most recently been a Casualty Assistant Victim Advocate
Thus far, veterans have extensive clusters of experience in IT, Project Management, Logistics, Construction, Mental Health/Social Services, Law Enforcement, Finance and Maintenance - and we only expect these to deepen.

Register your company now to participate in these pre-matched interviews (with your help in the selection), where you can have 1-on-1 conversations with these veterans to understand their years of training, leadership and skills.

Thank you to the companies who have already stepped forward to sponsor and participate: Corning Optical Communications, City of Hickory, City of Hickory Police Department, Sunbelt Furniture Express and US Conec.

In addition, the company has lowered overall manufacturing costs by $692,000, on average, per year, for the past five years. They credit much of their success to their dedication to continuous improvement. The company is an avid user of 5S workplace organization and a leader in the use of 8D problem solving and Kaizen improvement methodologies.

Smart Manufacturing Assessment
Work Smarter, Not Harder: Smart Manufacturing Assessment

It is quite common to walk around a manufacturer's plant floor and see a wide array of equipment sensors - measuring everything from vibration, temperature, speed or pressure. Each of these sensors constantly displaying and recording potentially hundreds or thousands of data points a day.

But what happens to this data?

How does your company utilize this mountain of data to improve your maintenance? Your productivity?

Chances are that data is never "put to work". Your company is missing out on some significant opportunities.

How do you start this process to understand the available technology or even the level of your company's preparation?

Gene Beneduce at the NC State Industry Expansion Solutions can get your company off the ground.

Gene, along with engineers at the Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute ( CEMSII) can conduct a readiness assessment at no cost to your company. The assessment tool will give you a score that determines how close you are to being able to successfully implement "smart
Manufacturing", and let you know the next steps you need to take in order to reach your goals.

Please call or contact Gene today to setup your free "smart manufacturing" assessment.
