Letter from Laurie
Dear Friend,

Women's Herstory Month was nothing less than extraordinary. As we celebrated the incredible contributions of sheroes - both seen and unseen - it was equally important to recognize the outstanding achievements of those who continue to press for progress. These trailblazers have paved the way for thousands of New Yorkers to pursue unprecedented opportunities.

From the Women's Suffrage Movement to present-day, we have been on the front lines advocating for gender equality and social justice. Through #powertothepolls and our 21 in '21 initiative, I look forward to the increased representation of women in our chambers of government - beginning with City Hall.

Speaking of elections, Vote Week for participatory budgeting (PBNYC) is April 7-15, 2018. During this period, residents of the 35th Council will have an opportunity to decide how to spend $1 million to improve our community. In order to vote, you must be at least 11 years old or at least in 6th Grade and live in the district. Eligible voters must sign an affidavit to confirm age and residency in the district. Learn more about the projects on this cycle's ballot, take note of the poll sites that will be opened throughout the district, share the information with your family, friends, and neighbors, then vote in-person or online. This is real money real projects, and real power.

I want to encourage you to connect with my office then get involved in strengthening our community and economy.

Yours in Partnership,

Majority Leader
