Dear Philadelphia Chapter Members
and Friends,
Hope you all enjoyed your holiday and getting ready for an exciting season of special TTN Philadelphia events and celebrations.
This year we have many exciting milestones to celebrate.
The TTN Philadelphia Giving Circle surpassed their fund goal for the annual grant and our chapter will be celebrating our 10-year anniversary. We are proud to have touched so many lives and created friendships among our members and we did it while celebrating our transitions and next phase.
Please join me and the celebration committee on
June 2nd
for a fun filled party to mark our chapter and the great
dedicated women who make us a unique and vibrant chapter.
Get ready for spring and mark your calendars to join us
June 2nd
Warm Regards,

SIG Corner:
SIG At Capacity? Don't Give Up!
|
|
In April, we and the groundhog come out of hibernation. We look at our calendars, put on our walking shoes and decide how we're going to HAVE FUN!
For TTNers, that often means SIGs. We re-commit to the ones we already belong to and check out the
TTN SIG Page for new ones to join. For some of us, that can lead to frustration. We find SIGs that look right up our alley only to find that they are At Capacity. Don't give up!
Our SIGs fill up fast. We are always assessing which ones work and which don't and what new ones to start to meet member demand.
Right now, we have 27 SIGs with 14 of them actively looking for new members. Most of the At Capacity groups have been "cloned" and have alternatives with openings. Six SIGs are newly forming and you can get in on the ground floor and help decide when and how the group goes forward.
Our
SIG Page lists all of our SIGs with descriptions, day and time, and who to contact.
If you have any questions, please contact Joanne Bowes at
[email protected]. If you want to join one that is At Capacity and you don't see an alternative, let Joanne know. If you have an idea for a SIG and would like to spearhead the group, let us know that, too.
At TTN, we work hard to provide a variety of educational and social Special Interest Groups and we love to hear what our members are looking for.
Spring is here ..... let's have fun!
SIG SAMPLER:
Who's missing from this picture? You!
Wine Lovers, Too is looking for you. The group meets the third Thursday of the month from 4:30-6:00 pm at members' homes or restaurants to taste the grape. You don't need to be a wine connoisseur, just enjoy drinking wine and socializing. Please contact Nancy Gordon at
[email protected] or Frances Marbury at
[email protected].
A Suburban Supper, an evening potluck group that meets in the Philly suburbs, would love to have you at the table. This convivial group enjoys food and conversation at each other's home and meets the First Monday of the month from 6:00-8:00pm. Interested? Contact Carol Seelaus at
[email protected].
Contact Joanne Bowes if you have SIG questions or suggestions for new groups. Join us!

Volunteer Opportunties: Penn Museum & Read by 4th
|
|
|
|
|
|
Penn Museum is looking for docents to lead tours for school children in its China Gallery. After training, a docent will be expected to attend a monthly meeting and lead between 2 and 6 tours a month. For more information, see our Volunteer Opportunities page.
Mark Your Calendars: Read by 4th is a National Initiative to make sure all children can read on grade level entering 4th grade. The Free Library and 90 non profit organizations have joined the effort to ensure that all members of our community are aware of this great need and our roles in addressing it.
Join us June 4, 2018, at a panel sponsored by TTN to meet Jenny Bogoni, Executive Director of Read by 4th, and learn about the strategy and partnerships that have contributed to this success.

Giving Circle: Our Largest Grant Ever
|
|
The
TTN Giving Circle is poised to grant $20,000 to a non-profit that benefits women and/or children in Philadelphia. This is our largest grant to date and is very exciting. Thank you to all our contributors.
The Grants Committee is currently reviewing applications to narrow the field to approximately 10 non-profits. These organizations will then be visited and evaluated by members of the committee, with the goal of choosing the top 4 or 5 to be presented to all voting members of the Giving Circle. Each finalist presents to the voting members who then vote by secret ballot. The top vote recipient will receive our $20,000 grant.
During this process we learn so much about the needs of our neighbors and about the dedicated people who are helping them. Some of the areas
being addressed this year are: Early reading skills, arts programs for kids, STEM education for girls, emergency fuel services, youth transitioning from foster care, domestic violence, maternity care, school readiness for immigrants, and so many more.
You'll recognize the models - all TTN members.
Joan is featuring the jewelry of John Wind and kindly donating 10% of sales made during the event to the Giving Circle.
Come and enjoy a lovely afternoon, sipping champagne, having snacks and joining your friends at this beautiful store.
Please register
here.
This event is free to you and your guests. All guests are welcome. We hope to see you there.

Join the Welcome Ambassador Team

|
The Welcome Ambassador Team continues to expand with membership growth in our Philadelphia Chapter!
Share your enthusiasm for TTN by joining our Team.
Welcome Ambassadors make a significant and positive impact for recent members. Our Team connects with new members over coffee, lunch, drinks or phone to orient them to the Philadelphia Chapter, all the exciting things we do and the many different activities we have to offer.
Welcome Ambassadors ensure new members make the most of their membership by answering questions and sharing their own personal TTN journey.
The Ambassador Program is truly a rewarding experience with a minimal time commitment. If you're interested in joining the Welcome Ambassador Team or have any questions, please email Cindy Benamy, [email protected].
