Brodhead Creek Heritage Center

ForEvergreen Nature Preserve
Winter weather may have slowed but it didn't stop construction on the Brodhead Creek Heritage Center! Brodhead Watershed Association and Pocono Heritage Land Trust are partnering with Stroud Township in a campaign to make ForEvergreen Nature Preserve in Analomink a natural hub of community life connecting people, land and water.

Regional Open Space Map is Printed and ready for distribution!
Pocono Heritage Land Trust (PHLT) would like to thank the William Penn Foundation for funding the printing of this map and our friends at Chestnuthill Township , Polk Township , Ross Township and the West End Parks & Open Space Commission for their assistance to PHLT in creating the new "West End Natural Places and Open Spaces Map" in Monroe County, PA

Due to several Nor'easters, we've been missing you on the trails of some really great Pocono places to explore with PHLT family and friends, so come out again and perambulate with PHLT Naturalist and Stewardship Volunteer, Don Miller.  Dates, times and locations to be highlighted in future newsletters - coming soon, watch for them! 
    
And also watch for regular quarterly newsletter feature articles about the wild plants, wildlife and unique natural places - special Pocono "Pieces of Paradise" where the wild things can be found. In case you missed the first one about the Ravens Return and their special habitats found in a history description of PHLT's Kurmes Paradise Creek Preserve.
Bike-N-Brew to Benefit PHLT Biking Trails at Glen Run Nature Preserve

New for this year's event, we will also be raising money to help complete the awesome new bike trails at Glen Run that are being developed by Pocono Bike Club and Pocono Heritage Land Trust. There will be raffle drawings for some great prizes, and a silent auction for some great outdoor gear and prizes donated from local businesses.

Shinrin-Yoku Walk and Yoga at ForEvergreen Nature Preserve

RAVEN WALK!

Want to learn more about Ravens, their habits and habitats and see them and their nest sites? Join well known local naturalist Don Miller for a Northern Raven exploration on the Kurmes Paradise Creek Preserve in Paradise Township. We'll hike near the railroad tracks, right up near their nests, and may even explore a cave!!

Glen Run Nature Preserve

BioBlitz
June 22nd & 23rd!!
2018 BioBlitz ~ Monroe County Conservation District (MCCD) has been holding a BioBlitz every other year for the past 16 years on Monroe County, PA Open Space properties. MCCD will be holding this exciting two day event at PHLT's Glen Run Nature Preserve , in cooperation with Pocono Heritage Land Trust on the preserve’s 180 acres just outside Stroudsburg. A Bioblitz is designed to be part contest, part festival, part educational event and part scientific endeavor that will bring together scientists and the public, in a race against time to count species of plants and animals that live at Glen Run Nature Preserve. The public is invited to get involved on Saturday, June 23 rd  from 9a-3p and kids of all ages are encouraged to help count species. We will be staging the event at the Cherry Valley Wildlife Refuge facilities on Cherry Valley Road. All activities at the BioBlitz are free. The event is generously supported by the Kettle Creek Environmental Fund . July Event in the Planning Stages: We are planning an overnight canoe trip on the Delaware River for July 28-29 to raise money for college scholarships in Environmental Careers ~ details coming soon!
