LOCAL BOYS & GIRLS CLUB RECEIVES NATIONAL HONORS

The Boys & Girls Clubs of America recently honored the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme with a national merit award for program excellence. The Club also received $2,500. BGCOP won an award in the Education and Career Development category for its SeaPerch Program.


Hospitals achieve honors for the third time

St. John’s Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) and St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital (SJPVH), which are Dignity Health Central Coast hospitals, are proud to announce they have been honored for the third time with Environmental Excellence Awards from Practice Greenhealth.

5 THINGS WE DID FOR YOU IN THE PAST WEEK
1.Held an Oxnard Young Professionals committee meeting to coordinate upcoming activities.

2.The Chamber’s Military Committee finalized the keynote speaker for the annual Appreciation Dinner in September (watch for details soon!).

3.Attendees of the May 10 Knowledge & Networking Lunch learned about homelessness in western Ventura County and what our local agencies are doing to address the problem.

4.Represented the Oxnard business community at a groundbreaking ceremony at the Port of Hueneme.

5.Held a Business Advocacy Committee where the group started looking at some of the November ballot propositions.

JOB KILLER UPDATE: CALCHAMBER IDENTIFIES 28TH BILL
The California Chamber of Commerce today added SB 993 (Hertzberg) to its job killer list, bringing the total number of job killers to 28. The latest bill will be considered as a special order of business in the Senate Governance and Finance Committee on May 16.
