MONTHLY CHAPTER MEETINGS
The October 2020 meeting will offer both virtual and in-person attendance. The virtual meeting is open to any number of attendees. The in-person meeting will be limited to 120 attendees based on guidelines set up by the chapter: (1) Up to 80 dues-paying chapter members; (2) chapter sponsors maybe have one in-person attendee and the balance may attend virtually; and (3) approved guests may attend in person based on available seating as of Monday, October 5.

The meeting will be structured similar to a typical in‑person meeting to include a professional development session (1.5 CPEs), seated networking social (breakout groups for the virtual audience), seated dinner, and keynote presentation (1 CPE). Virtual attendees will be offered a $50 credit for dinner from Grubhub (some exclusions apply) and instructions will be emailed to eligible attendees a few days prior to the meeting. CPE credit will be available for both in-person and virtual attendance subject to applicable attendance criteria for each.

It is expected that in-person+virtual meetings will continue throughout the year, and we will work toward increasing the number of in-person attendees as the Governor's guidelines surrounding COVID evolve.

Don't Let COVID-19 SALT Issues Raise Your Blood Pressure
It’s been over six months since companies have had to scramble to deal with the initial impact of COVID-19. Many CFOs have been able to stabilize their businesses, including making tough decisions related to their work force, managing employees working from home, and implementing social distancing requirements in their offices and facilities. While many of the above “people” issues may have stabilized for the near term, there are still a variety of “gotchas” which CFOs may not have yet had a chance to focus on – but could still have significant impacts on their companies. One of these “gotchas” relates to state and local tax /SALT issues which can create a myriad of headaches – especially in light of increased scrutiny by state regulators.

This program will unpack key post-COVID 19 SALT issues, including:
·    Potential risks and liabilities associated with a more distributed work force – including considerations associated with the nature of employees’ work and their respective locations
·    Key differences between tax vs. financial reporting accounting
·    The importance of establishing a documented process associated with tracking key employee facts and statistics, especially in preparation for M&A-related due diligence
·    State-specific “gotchas”
·    Strategies associated with the timing and approach related to the payment of potential liabilities

Cresa Real Estate Hot Topics and Actionable Advice: Market Updates, Cost Reduction Strategies and Construction / Project Management Trends
With the COVID-19 recession upon us, some real estate submarkets have yet to experience price reductions while others have dropped substantially, leaving many corporate space users unaware of the latest strategies to capitalize on market trends and reduce occupancy costs. In addition, for companies that are constructing space or building out tenant improvements, some states kept job sites open by declaring construction an essential business. Even so, a survey of Project Managers throughout North America indicates many initiatives are still experiencing delays. Disruptions to supply chain, labor availability and permitting processes create challenges for construction projects including tenant improvement build-outs..
