The following sustainability quotes came from goodreads.com
I have shared what these thoughts bring to mind for me.
Now, what are your own thoughts in regards to sustainable living?

We are such spendthrifts with our lives, the trick of living is to slip on and off the planet with the least fuss you can muster. I'm not running for sainthood. I just happen to think that in life we need to be a little like the farmer, who puts back into the soil what he takes out.  ~  Paul Newman
  • I think of drinking straws. Paper straws can actually biodegrade back in the soil. Not so with plastic straws.
Consume less; share better. Hervé Kempf
  • I think of cooperatives and farming when reading this. Not everyone in the county needs a hay bailer when one can do the job nicely for all.
Buy, buy, says the sign in the shop window; Why, why, says the junk in the yard. Paul McCartney
  • America has certainly turned into a "throw-away society."
The best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago. The second best time is now. ~  Anonymous
  • Trees are some of the best completely natural things there in in helping to keep the air healthy.
When we use these words and we talk about plants having a strategy to do this or wanting this or desiring this, we're being metaphorical obviously. I mean, plants do not have consciousness. But, this is a fault of our own vocabulary. We don't have a very good vocabulary to describe what others species do to us, because we think we're the only species that really does anything. Michael Pollan
  • We need to remember that all creatures are good for something - whether we like to face the fact or not.
Teach your children what we have taught our children, that the earth is our mother. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth. If men spit upon the ground, they spit upon themselves. This we know: the earth does not belong to man - man belongs to the earth. This we know. All things are connected like the blood that unites one's family. All things are connected. Chief Seattle, Suquamish Chief
  • I believe as the Native Americans do. We do not own the land we live on. It is left for others. Therefore, we had better do it justice.

The College of Southern Idaho is now accepting registrations for this summer's Music Fest, which runs June 11 - 15, 2018 at the CSI Fine Arts Center. Registrations will be accepted through May 1.

Music Fest, a music day camp for students age 12 to 18, is an opportunity for students to participate in many areas of music and interact with a faculty of professional music educators from all over the state who are chosen for their expertise in their field and work with youth. Students choose a major and spend significant time each day in classes related to their major. Available majors include strings, vocal, musical theater, percussion, organ, and piano. In addition to work in their major, all students participate in the camp choir and have three elective periods to choose from. There are a wide variety of elective classes to choose from, such as drumming circle, small ensembles, musical theater, girls' choir, and many more. On the last evening of the camp, all students perform in the Music Fest concert.

CSI Music Fest is exceptionally affordable. Tuition is $195 for early bird tuition prior to March 15 or $225 after March 15. This fee covers all program costs for the students, including instructional materials. Housing is available for those students wishing to homestay with Twin Falls students and their families. Other optional items such as photos, lunches, and private lessons are also available for an additional cost. All students must be registered by May 1. A limited number of needs-based scholarships are available.

For more information or to obtain a registration form, go to www.csi.edu/musicfest or stop by the CSI Fine Arts Center. You can also call Camille Barigar at 732-6288 or e-mail [email protected].

Application for Graduation - Apply on MYCSI!

Degrees are not automatically awarded. Students MUST complete an Application for Graduation to be considered for a degree.
  1. How do I know whether I am ready to apply for graduation?

Meet with your Academic Advisor to review your Graduation Degree Audit Report. If you are ready to graduate, all requirements should show as "met" or "in progress."
  2. What is a degree audit?
A degree audit is the process of checking your records to ensure you have met all requirements for graduation. This includes making sure transfer courses and substitutions have been properly applied.
See the Office of the Registrar if you have any questions.
  3. When should I apply?

Students should apply for graduation the semester prior to degree/certificate completion and no later than the priority deadline.
If you plan to graduate in...
Priority application deadline is...
Final application deadline is...
Spring
March 30st
May 10th
Summer
March 30st *
July 27th

*If you will complete all requirements during summer or fall semester, but wish to participate in May commencement, you must:
- have 10 or fewer required credits remaining at the end of Spring semester .
- apply by the Spring priority deadline to be included in the commencement program
  1. What happens if I miss the priority deadline?
If you miss the Spring graduation application deadline, your name will not be printed in the commencement program. Applications received after the priority deadline
may result in a later mailing date and delayed arrival of your diploma.
  2. What happens if I miss the Final Application deadline?
Your completion date will be moved to the next semester.
  3. When and where do I buy my cap and gown for the Commencement Ceremony?
Caps and Gowns will be available for purchase from the CSI Bookstore at GRAD FEST on April 10.  Stay tuned for more information on GRAD FEST!

  1. When will I receive my diploma?
Grades are due the Tuesday following the end of the term .  Once all grades are submitted by faculty, transcripts are reviewed for completion.  This takes approximately 6 weeks.  Once all transcripts have been reviewed for completion, diplomas are printed and mailed.  This takes an additional 6-8 weeks.  Please allow 3 months to receive your diploma.  Your transcript will reflect graduation as soon as it has been evaluated.

The Difference between Graduation and Commencement

Graduation   is actually receiving a degree from The College of Southern Idaho. A student is graduated from the college only after completing all degree or program requirements, completing a graduation application, and paying all outstanding fees. It is important to make sure you meet with your program advisor to confirm all requirements are being met.
Commencement   is the graduation ceremony. It is a celebration of accomplishments. Students are not required to walk in the commencement ceremony, nor does  participation guarantee graduation.   For more information: Commencement Ceremony Information.
