6 Things You Need to Know About Summer Camp

Summer camp will be here before you know it and there are some things we think you should know:
  1. To get the best price for your favorite summer camp session, register by this Wednesday, March 14, to save $50 on week-long, overnight programs.
  2. Did you know there are scholarships available to send girls to camp? Don't miss your chance to experience the outdoors this summer! Scholarship applications are due by Wednesday, March 14.
  3. Girls have over 100 summer camp programs to choose from! There really is something for every girl! Girls can even bring a friend who is not a currently registered Girl Scout.
  4. Is this your daughter's first time at camp? If she's not ready for an overnight experience, day camp options are available at all three camps as well. There are even half week programs available if a whole week seems too long.
  5. We care about your daughter's safety while she is at camp- it is our highest prioritySummer camp staff are interviewed, screened and selected based on previous experience and training with children. All summer staff attend an extensive 14-day on-site training where they learn and practice emergency procedures, study child behavior and age progression, review and rehearse camp processes and activity expectations and gain hands-on experience with all program areas at camp. All three of our camps are accredited by the American Camp Association through the standards program. This requires each camp to annually review and meet over 300 health and safety standards, along with every camp counselor getting a thorough background check.
  6. Our camp staff can't wait to welcome you to camp this summer!

Here at P2P we think summer camp is pretty great! But don't take our word for it:

"My favorite part of overnight camp was getting to stay up really late, talking and laughing with my friends." - Bailey

"My favorite camp memory is making it the top of the climbing tower on the difficult side."
- Joy

"My favorite camping activity has to be roasting marshmallows around a campfire because it is such a time of peace and serenity. It's like everyone just comes together as a whole." - Lauryn

"I went to day camp at Camp Ginger Cascades. My favorite things at camp were making new friends, chillin' in Hilltop Lodge and going cascading." - Elly

"I love going to camp! My favorite part is the horseback riding and making new friends. The counselors are really nice, and when I become a teenager, I would like to work at camp to help other Girl Scouts that were like me." - Kayla

"I become a little more independent every time I go to camp. I got to ride a horse for the first time while at camp- it was an experience I will never forget!" - Kelsey

"Everyone is so professional and wonderful. I love sending my daughter to camp because I know she is in good hands and learning so much!" - Girl Scout parent

Friends of Girl Scouts
Help support the premier leadership program for girls in the world!

Each year, Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont impacts thousands of lives.
