Music Notes for Sunday

This week, March 25, on Palm Sunday, the women of the Chancel Choir will be accompanied by two flutes, cello, harp and organ to offer Charles Loeffler's "By The Rivers of Babylon:" a 4-voice work with the text from Psalm 137.

The men of the choir will sing "Exsultate justi in Domino," Brant Adams' setting of words from Psalm 33.   You may get to know these work a little by listening  online: " By The Rivers of Babylon"

One More Inquirers' Class
Sunday at 11:30 am
Adults who are interested in learning more about the Episcopal Church and/or being confirmed or received, should attend our Inquirers' Class. Topics have been the history of the Church, the Book of Common Prayer, how we understand and use the Bible in the Episcopal Church, the Sacraments, Episcopal Church customs, and living a Christian life in the world.

The class will meet after Eucharist, from 11:30-12:30, in the Conference Room just off the Parish Hall.

There will be ample opportunity for questions. Bishop Benhase will be at St. Peter's on Sunday, April 8 for his annual visitation and to confirm or receive new Episcopalians or reaffirm the Baptismal vows of those already confirmed.
Our Parish Library and Online Catalogue
St. Peter's is blessed with an extensive and up-to-date
parish library of theological, spiritual and biblical resources. If we don't have a book you're looking for, please talk to our librarian Joan Loos about ordering it. Her email address is jskloos@aol.com. The entire catalogue can be accessed online.
One More Gathering: Finding God in Our Stories
Monday at 10 am in the Sandpiper Room at The Marshes
Ginger and Dan Malachuk, parishioners at St. Peter's, facilitate discussion on Scripture passages from the upcoming Sunday's readings. Words and stories from the Bible often evoke personal memories and stories - and our discovering or rediscovering God in those stories. We will meet for an hour during the Lenten season,  ending this Monday, March 26.
OUTREACH
LET'S FILL UP THE CART!

Bring Nutritional Cereals and Canned Tuna or Chicken
for St. Michael's Food Pantry by THIS Sunday --
LEAVE IN THE CART AT THE BACK OF THE EDUCATION BUILDING OR ON THE TABLE AT THE FRONT OF THE CHURCH
  Who's going to win?! It's running close . . .

Hunt and the Rev. Melanie Lemburg, rector of St. Thomas Isle of Hope, have engaged both congregations into a friendly competition this Lent to support the Food Pantry at St. Michael's Church (corner of Waters and Washington Avenues). Now through Palm Sunday, each congregation is collecting protein-rich foods (canned fish, canned chicken and peanut butter) that will be distributed, along with other staples, to the people they serve at their food pantry. They are able to purchase many types of food at significantly discounted prices through Second Harvest, but protein is often not available.
You may also participate by writing a check to St. Peter's with "Food Pantry" in the memo line.
PARISH LIFE
Holy Baptism at 8 am Easter Service

At the 8 am Eucharist on Easter Sunday, we will baptize Aurelia Elizabeth Sheridan, youngest daughter of Anna and Keenan Sheridan, a new family to the St. Peter's community. Carey Bass, teenage daughter of Betsey and Langston, is one of Aurelia's sponsors.
Please Consider St. Peter's Prayer Guild . . .

. . . as your calling for your ministry this year,  ESPECIALLY if
  • You are compassionate and want to help others.
  • You seek the Lord's counsel on your personal decisions.
  • You believe that God continues to heal as Jesus did when He walked this earth.
  • You can keep all information confidential: Our promise is "confidential prayers."
The St. Peter's Prayer Guild meets once a month to share with each other and to receive the list for the next 30 days. Attendance at the meeting is NOT mandatory. Those in the guild pledge to pray daily - at whatever time works for them. They pledge to specifically pray for some or all of those on the list daily.
Frequent emails during the month are sent with new requests and updates about those on the list.

If you have questions, feel free to ask a guild member or contact Shirley Forssell at 912.598.8137 or sdforssell@aol.com.
St. Peter's Prayer Ministry--How to Ask for Prayers
Ask for prayers for yourself or others by submitting  this simple form. As the form indicates, you can ask for the whole congregation to pray in church for you or others by name. Or you can choose confidential prayer; only clergy and prayer guild members will be given your prayer information.

You will also find prayer request cards  to be used for this purpose, in your pew card racks.  (If this request is for another, please be sure the person wants to be on the prayer list.)

We do appreciate responses when the situation changes or when you want to remove names from either prayer list. To do so, please contact the Parish Office at 912.598.7242.

Regular Yoga Classes in the Parish Hall
 Thursdays, from 10 - 10:50 am
Movement and stillness are keys to a healthy mind, body and spirit. Join Kate Doran of  Spry Mind + Body for a chair-supported yoga class and discover how moving and breathing can create both physical vitality and peace of mind.

We will do traditional yoga postures, with the support of a chair, to build and maintain flexibility, strength and balance. We will also learn how to use the breath to calm our nervous system and quiet the mind.

The cost is $40/month, with checks payable to "St. Peter's" and dropped by the Parish Office.
