THOUGHTS FROM YOUR RABBI: Take Action.

Shalom to all our dear TSSB family,

With the holidays behind us, it is time to put our prayers into action!

We are all aware of fire devastation in northern California. Entire neighborhoods and businesses have been utterly destroyed.

I received an urgent message from a colleague in Santa Rosa. Here is a link to an article to how his Temple community is a hub for food and shelter for
Evacuees from the area.

There is also a link to donate . I just donated and urge each of you to open your hearts and donate too.
Every amount, large or small makes a difference.

In addition to our prayers for healing the injured, comforting those who mourn and asking for
protection and courage for the firefighters, OUR DONATIONS will make a difference.

Additionally, Rabbi George Gittleman of Congregation Shomrei Torah in Santa Rosa, CA, has asked people to email:   [email protected]  for other ways to help. He reports that gift cards to stores like Target or Amazon etc. are needed as well as donations to help defray costs of free meals and other services the synagogue is offering the community.

Gift cards can be mailed to:
Congregation Shomrei Torah
2600 Bennett Valley Road
Santa Rosa, CA 95404

Donations can be made to Rabbi Stephanie Kramer’s Discretionary Fund at that address, with a note saying that the money is in response to the fires.

Please take action and do what you can now!
Todah, thank you.

Blessings,
Rabbi Toba August

RELIGIOUS SCHOOL UPDATES
Our students had a fun day on Monday celebrating the holiday of Simchat Torah…when we commemorate finishing the Torah cycle and beginning its reading all over again! The students learned Israeli dances and concluded the day with an All-School dance session with our Torah.

Next week, the students will begin their Judaic curriculum. After learning about Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, and Simchat Torah, the teachers are eager to begin grade-based classroom learning about our Biblical stories, Jewish values, doing mitzvot, making ethical Jewish decisions and so much more!

LOOKING AHEAD:
Parent Committee meeting – Mon., Nov 13 @ 4:15pm
NO SCHOOL – Monday, November 20th
SHABBAT UNDER THE STARS
We had a wonderful Shabbat service under the stars this past Friday, although very well attended it felt intimate. Being surrounded by so many members made it feel really special. The kids enjoyed getting to shake the Lulav with the Rabbi and many of them dined together under the sukkah. It was a fun, relaxing and meaningful service by our Rabbi and Cantor.
ONEG SPONSORSHIPS
Thank you to the Zuckerwise Family for sponsoring our recent “Shabbat Under the Stars” Oneg.

When you sponsor an Oneg you help provide fruits, vegetables, cheese, wine, delicious cookies and other baked goods to celebrate the joy of Shabbat. You can also consider co-sponsoring an Oneg with another family. We are looking to fill Oneg sponsorships for the rest of the year. Please contact Maya .
