This year, let us all make a resolution to get to know our neighbors!
Family Matters Newsletter
Volume 2, Issue 2              May 2018

What a busy spring!  The Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Council had many events. Here are some of the exciting things that happened in April and May.

March 27, 2018 we visited the Maine State House to display at the Hall of Flags in Augusta. Each year the Maine Children's Trust and the Councils that it governs display their work along with Maine Families Home Visitors to the State legislators and representatives along with others that come out to see us and join us. For oxford county we we able to see many of our representative and to share details of the work we do. Governor LePage was one of the supporters that gave a speech backing the importance of preventative work and strengthening families efforts from our Councils.

Many local business, and community members support the campaign by wearing Blue on April 6th and planting Pinwheel Gardens through the month.

Wear Blue Day
April 6th, 2018 was a day to Wear Blue to bring awareness to creating #GreatChildhoods by reducing child abuse and neglect throughout our country.  Here in our corner of the world, we asked our communities to participate. We even had a challenge to find the largest group of people to wear blue- winners got Whoopie Pies!

Thank you to everyone who participated. Our winners were Oxford SACC with 54 children and staff wearing blue. Great job!
