The Graduates

On Thursday, May 10, we held the  Leadership Contra Costa Class of 2018 graduation ceremonies at Scott's Seafood Grill & Bar in Walnut Creek. It seemed fitting that in the 31st year of the program, 31 class members graduated their class. The graduation ceremony was lead by Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau  past chair Linda Rimac Colberg . Attendees heard from our current  Board Chair, Tim Argenti , and guest speaker,
Elena Bicker, a graduate of the LCC program and Executive Director of Tony La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation. Graduating class participants, Marcia Gerg Jennifer Stowel l and
Cindy Rudow shared class members' favorite sessions and thoughts on how they will apply what they have learned. They also took a moment, to thank  Nicky Henzie, program administrator , and  program leader Marcie Hochhauser on behalf of the whole class. Read more.

Leadership Contra Costa  is a comprehensive eight-month program designed to identify and prepare potential leaders who want to make a difference in the communities in which they live and work.  Learn
more about the program & how to apply for the 32nd year  here.

In Appreciation
The Chamber Education Committee hosted their Teacher Appreciation Reception on Friday, May 4 at the Walnut Creek Historical Society's Shadelands Ranch Museum. Approximately 70 teachers from schools all over Walnut Creek  joined us  in the beautiful gardens of the museum  for a delicious spread with food from Whole Food's Catering, wine from Lange Twins Family Winery and Vineyards, craft brews from Calicraft Brewing Co. (winner of the  2018 UXL Business of the Year Award ) and dessert from Nothing Bundt Cakes.  A new (exceptionally good) addition this year was live music performed by Grant Tudor, a Berean Christian alum, and he provided the perfect ambience for a lovely afternoon! Nine-Point Checklist
These 9 SEO Tips Are All You'll Ever Need to Rank in Google
Before you publish your next piece of web content, run it through the following 9-point checklist for the best SEO tips.

Pick a good keyword to focus on.   The first step is to simply pick the search term or phrase you want the post to show up for. If I am writing about the best dog toys for small dogs, I'll want to find out what people are actually searching for.  The easiest way to do this is use   Google Keyword Planner , a free tool that will show you an estimate for any search phrase. (Although Keyword Planner is free, you may need to set up an AdWords account to gain access.)  For example, I noticed that "small dog toys" receives 590 monthly searches -- higher than any other related combination of words. However, I'm still not totally ready to start writing about this topic. First, I need to do some research. Article continues
