In honor of Texas Public Schools Week, a luncheon was held at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor to celebrate our schools and our community. Special musical performances celebrated some of our extraordinary All-State students.

As we began this school year, our team determined that we would focus on three areas to help us meet our mission of providing an education that challenges every student to excel. Those three focus areas - Culture, Mindset, and Commitment - have been central to our work with our students.
Our schools have stayed focused on implementing structures and systems that create positive cultures for learning to support our students. We know that academic achievement and culture go hand in hand.  We want every student to feel safe and we want them to know that they are important and valued as a part of the school community. One of the programs that has been invaluable in our continued efforts to develop great cultures is the No Place for Hate program. Working with the Anti-Defamation League, we have been able to provide training to school leaders and campus representatives that enhances understanding of diversity and inclusion in order to identify strategies to support students as we teach them to be kind and respectful of each other. I'm proud of the culture of our district and of each of our schools. Our students are afforded an opportunity not only to learn academic content, but also to develop skills to become successful human beings.

We have also focused on creating a mindset of high achievement. Our continued success depends on our ability to get better, and we want to push ourselves to keep learning. We also want to stretch our students to reach their highest potential and are committed to doing just that. At our Public Schools Week luncheon on March 6, we celebrated our students' mindset for learning and achievements with the introduction of thirty-one of our extraordinary student representatives from multiple program areas including academics, fine arts, Career and Technical Education, and athletics. Several of our All-State musicians also performed for our community. It was a wonderful demonstration of the kind of culture, mindset, and commitment we are striving to develop and improve upon.

Abraham Lincoln said, "Commitment is what transforms a promise into reality. It is the words that speak boldly of your intentions. And the actions which speak louder than words. It is making time when there is none. Coming through time after time, year after year after year..." Thank you for your commitment to Belton ISD. Our students are truly blessed by a community that consistently supports and celebrates their successes.

Sincerely,

Susan Kincannon, Ed.D.
Superintendent

Message from the School Board President:

Our Schools! Our Community!

It takes a supportive community to have strong schools, and strong schools to have a great community. A community's public schools are a key element in the quality of life that determines where people choose to live, work, and raise their family. Because of that we actively seek out partnerships within our community to make our schools better. In Belton ISD, we enjoy a wonderful partnership between our schools and our community, and together we are making a difference for our kids!

Each month at our school board meetings we recognize "Big Red Community Partners" who go above and beyond to provide opportunities for our students. Those recognized represent the many businesses and individuals who are making a difference by investing in our schools in extraordinary ways. We are thankful for each of these partners for their commitment to our students, our schools, and our community! Our BRCPs for the past year include:
  • Animal Medical Care
  • Cooper & Bright Plumbing
  • Belton Kiwanis Club
  • American Legion Post 55
  • Beltec Industries
  • Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation
  • Fort Hood School Liaison Program
  • Rotary Club of Temple

In celebration of Public Schools Week and Tarver Elementary's pursuit of their annual No Place for Hate designation, each student painted their own unique rock to be a part of the campus' new Rock Garden. During the ceremony, the book, "Only One You," was read aloud, illustrating how each rock is as unique as each child.
