While
autumn might signal an end to peak swimming season, it doesn't mean an end to swimming pool maintenance.
Pool owners need to take extra care of water quality as the cooler months arrive to avoid pools turning green or become a haven for mosquitoes.
Council has already received a number of complaints about neighbouring pools going green and attracting mozzies.
Autumn is the peak time for mosquito borne viral infections and hence people should take steps to avoid exposure to mosquitoes. There is no specific treatment for these viruses so prevention depends on avoiding mosquito bites.
- Clean filters
- Keep chemicals in balance
- Add an algaecide
- Use a pool blanket
- Maintain the water level

New fitness equipment at Tom Uren Park
New outdoor fitness equipment has been installed at Tom Uren Park, Guildford West;
north of the existing playground and adjacent to the corner of Karani Avenue and Iris Street.
The local residential community were instrumental in identifying the initial need and the potential benefits to the community.
A collaborative approach funded the project with costs shared equally between Cumberland Council and a NSW Community Building Partnership program grant sourced by the State Member for Fairfield, Guy Zangari.

ClubGRANTS applications open soon
ClubGRANTS is a community grants program funded by local clubs and administered by Cumberland Council.
The Clubs for Cumberland ClubGRANTS Scheme will fund projects that address the following priorities: community safety, education and employment, health and well-being, sustainability, youth, social cohesion and participation.
Organisations can access free information sessions, grant writing workshops and receive tailored advice on their project at an advisory desk session.
Applications open 9 April 2018 and close 4pm, 7 May 2018.

Wyatt Park Plan of Management (POM)
The POM has been developed in accordance with the principles of the Crown Lands Act 2016 and Local Government Act 2005, and provides the community, sporting groups and Cumberland Council with a clear direction and framework on the future use and management of the Park.
