Registration Open for 106th Presbytery Meeting
Because of the continued need due to the Covid-19 pandemic to avoid large gatherings, the 106th stated meeting of Presbytery of the James will occur on Saturday, October 17, 2020 via Zoom.
 
9:00 a.m. - meeting opens
9:20 a.m. - orientation
9:30 a.m. - meeting begins
11:45 a.m. - lunch break
2:30 p.m. - anticipated time of adjournment
Registration

1) Clerks or ministers must provide the name(s) of commissioner(s) elected by the session to represent the congregation in advance. Email this information to Barbara Espigh.

2) All participants (ministers, commissioned ruling elders, certified Christian educators, commissioners, and guests) must register by 8 p.m. on October 16.

World Communion Sunday is October 4
World Communion Sunday was created in 1933 with the first celebration at Shadyside Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania. Today, multiple Christian denominations celebrate our oneness in Christ with our siblings around the world on the first Sunday in October. Receiving the annual Peace and Global Witness Offering at this time continues the ancient Christian practice of sharing what we have with those in need.
Conference Addresses Pastoral Care During a Crisis
The current pandemic has made pastoral care an even greater challenge with the need for sheltering in place and social distancing. Faith leaders are caring for many people feeling a rise in loneliness, anxiety, and depression. The Presbyterian Older Adult Ministries Network (POAMN) addresses this topic in their virtual conference, Shaping Faith in Crisis: Peace by Piece, October 27-28.
