Save the Date and Thank You
Thank you to those parents who attended our last First Thursday Coffee of the school year.
We had a wonderful presentation from teacher Susan Bodley on, among other things, differentiating instruction in mathematics using a game where the number value of five randomly selected playing cards are used to create two 2-digit numbers whose sum is as close to 100 as possible. Using: 2, 8, 5, 5, and 2 how close can you get? It is about strategizing as well as exercising one's ability to calculate!
Move over bedtime reading, parents cozying up with their children over math puzzles is a wonderful way to promote a love of mathematics. We will be hosting a presentation of Dinner Table Math with award winning numeracy educator Dr. Angela McIver on Thursday, May 31 from 6 to 8 pm, with free childcare available. Save the date! We hope to see you there.

Friendly Reminder
Heritage House pick up is at 2:45 pm and Schoolhouse pick up is at 3:00 pm. If you are picking up your child in the Schoolhouse and arrive early, please
do not park in front of the black gate. You will block Heritage House traffic. Pull around the circle to let other traffic go first. Gate will open at 3:00 pm.
Thank you.

What's the Buzz?
Our rooftop beehives arrived last week and our beekeeper introduced a colony to their new home this past weekend. We hope you will have an opportunity to sneak a peak at our ecosystem supporting pollinators busily beginning their spring and summer work from the observation window at the end of the second floor School House hallway!

Donate to the Annual Fund with Just a Click!
Please join the circle of families that support FSH students and teachers through the Annual Fund by making a gift to this effort before June 30, when the 2017-2018 Annual Fund campaign closes. Our Annual Fund gifts go beyond closing the gap between the amount of tuition we pay and the actual costs of educating our children. Every Annual Fund gift helps make the Friends School Haverford experience exciting, enriching, and memorable for each and every student.

Pretzel Fridays
This pretzel initiative is an opportunity to fundraise for middle school trips, build community, and engage with math skills in meaningful ways. The Carousel Connections crew and middle school math students will sell pretzels during the class snack times on Fridays. If you would like your child to receive a freshly baked pretzel, please send a $1 in with him/her. Please note that we will not have a pre-paid sale due to our focus on the math and money exchange. Thank you for supporting our pretzel sale!
