Hands-On Gardening Workshop for Teachers, Staff, and the Community
As a follow-up to the Groundwork School Garden Training held on March 5, we are offering another hands-on garden training to review the following topics:  
  • Practicing how to properly water a raised bed
  • Creating an affordable trellis for climbing vegetables
  • Identifying edible weeds
  • Transplanting
  • Sowing seeds with students
Where: The Bruce School garden on Providence Street
Date: Wednesday, May 30th
Time: 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
What to wear: Closed-toed shoes, clothes to get dirty in, sunscreen, a hat, and a water bottle.

Summer Institute 2018 at Boston College: The Present and Future of Indoor Farming
 
Learn how to grow up to 60 plants in a hydroponic system that is only 2' deep by 4' wide! Hydroponics is the science of growing plants without soil, using only tap water and nutrient powders. You will learn how to put the system together, as well as how to manage it.   You will also receive NGSS aligned curriculum materials, a hydroponics kit of materials to get you started, and training on how to use the technology needed to monitor the system.  
 
 
Dates: August 14 - 16, 2018
Time: 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM 
Cost: It is FREE! There will also be a stipend to cover transportation and parking.

Learn about the importance of soil and how to create and add your own compost to create nutrient rich soil for a thriving garden.

    (30-40 hrs/week)
Also, we are hiring an Education Program Manager!  
This position will lead and deliver top quality social justice, environmental and public health focused  programming and help integrate high school aged youth into GWL's community activities, projects, and events.
