Palm Sunday begins Holy Week, a time in the church year when we remember how Christ gave his life in love for the world! Come sing, "Hosanna" this Palm Sunday!
|
MESSAGE FROM PASTOR TIM
Dear Friends and Members of Ark and Dove,
Our Lenten Journey is almost complete. We began with the imposition of ashes, and now we come to the most central week of the Christian Faith Journey--Holy Week. Our Lenten disciplines and worship have led us to this place. During Holy Week (an eight day week), we walk with Jesus as he marches on to Jerusalem, and we walk with Jesus as he is forced to march to Golgotha. Gratefully, we end with the
Alleluias of Easter. I think you will find that your Easter faith experience will be far richer if you attend worship on Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Every year people come to those mid-week services and tell us, "I've never been before. I am really glad I came."
May the deep peace of Christ come over you in this the holiest of weeks.

VERSE AND PRAYER
Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it; and he sat on it. 8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut in the fields. 9 Then those who went ahead and those who followed were shouting,
"Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
-
Mark 11:7-9
Come Holy One, source of all life. As we hear again the story of the passion, let the mind be in us that was in Jesus Christ, who became a servant that we might be free, humbling himself to death on the cross. Awaken our ears, open our hearts and enliven our spirits as we journey with Jesus from palms to cross and resurrection. Amen.

N
TES FOR YOU
The next 2 weeks are packed with incredible music. Beginning this Sunday, our adult choir and Joyful Noise will combine to sing a beautiful "Sing Children, Sing Hosanna", accompanied by Laura Doughty on flute, Paula Sparks on piano and Keon'e Mullings on percussion. I hope that you will also join us on Good Friday. The choir and orchestra will lead the music in a deeply moving service. On Easter Sunday, we will again be accompanied by members of our orchestra, Paula Sparks and we will welcome all of you to come up and sing Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" with us at both the 9:30 and 11:00 services.
Love,

LEADING THROUGH LISTENING

EQUIPPING THE SAINTS Leading through Listening
Our neighborhoods, our country and our world are changing at an ever increasing pace, but do we know what the most important issues are in our community? How are these issues reflected in our family and our congregation? Understanding these concerns and supporting Ark and Dove's mission to be leaders in our community requires that we learn to listen. You are invited on Wednesday, April 4th to participate in listening sessions. There is much we can learn from each other and even more as we expand our listening outside the church walls. Join us starting at 6:30 for dinner followed by lessons from 7:00-8:30 led by Pastor Tim and Pastor Jon. Childcare is available upon request. Please contact Steve Debus (steven.debus89@gmail.com) with questions.

AWAKEN * CONFRONT * TRANSFORM
|
A.C.T. TO END RACISM On April 3-5, 2018 the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA, of which PCUSA is a member, and its partners will gather in Washington, D.C. for a historic event to launch its Truth and Racial Justice Initiative. April 4th will be fifty years since the assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., which will be marked by a prayer walk, interfaith service, and RALLY.
AWAKEN oneself to the truth that racism is e
ver-present, deeply rooted in American culture, and profoundly damaging to our communities.
CONFRONT racism, speak truth to power, and stand up against injustice. TRANSFORM the hearts, minds, and behaviors of people and institutions.
