The TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank
®, recently donated a total of $250,000 to Gateway Community Action Partnership as part of the foundation's commitment to giving back to the community.
The TD Charitable Foundation funding to Gateway CAP will expand operations of its successful Mill Creek Urban Farm in Bridgeton. The objectives of the planned expansion include: Adding two new hydroponic greenhouses to the farm in order to increase production,
providing new employment opportunities, including the creation of three new full-time positions and expanded work opportunities for developmentally disabled individuals and providing gardening education and field trips to low-income area residents and local school districts.
"Our Mill Creek Urban Farm has always been a source of pride for us because it is an innovative, community-based solution to the pressing community issue of food insecurity," Albert B. Kelly, CCAP, Gateway President & CEO, said. "We built this farm on the former site of a housing project so it is a symbol of hope. Showing what once was and what it can become. How that dream became reality and how it translates into fresh, healthy and nutritious food for the community.
"The TD Charitable Foundation has always been our partner and shared our mission and vision and helped us put them into practice with their support," Kelly added.

Holly City Family Success Center Celebrates Women's History Month
|
By Ivelise Perez
Family Partner Worker
We are celebrating Women's History Month every Wednesday in March.
Holly City Family Success Center of Millville will be celebrating women by dressing up as an African American woman that made a huge impact in history.
This past Wednesday I was Josephine Baker. She was the first African American female entertainer in history to take a stand and embrace her culture by only performing in locations all around the world that were open to integration of African American culture.
Josephine Baker also aided solders in the war and stood aside Martin Luther King Jr. in his march for equality. She was featured in a few movies portraying looks that were mainly seen as manly. Yet, her position in the world was well known and that was to break stigma and open a path for future African American female entertainers.
