Longtime Educator Willie Pyfrom is Living Proof That Music Inspires
We couldn't think of any better way to close out Teacher Appreciation Week than with a heartfelt meeting of educators.

Superintendent Dr. Donald E. Fennoy II traveled to  Highland Elementary School last week to meet music teacher Willie Pyfrom, a 54-year (!!!) veteran educator. The two had more in common than a dedication to children, however. They both graduated from  Florida A&M University and played in the famed Marching 100 band!

"Fifty years of service to  the School District of Palm Beach County, I mean, that's just amazing...and to see his energy and dedication to those kids in that elementary school band room at Highland Elementary, it's just inspiring," Dr. Fennoy shared. Boynton Beach HS Teacher Gifts Student His Car During Senior Awards Ceremony
Boynton Beach Community High School teacher Michael Cavanaugh will retire at the end of this school year, ending a career that saw him devote himself to educating children in Title I schools.  

Mr. Cavanaugh had one final gift up his sleeve this year, which he unveiled at the senior awards ceremony.  To say that he made student Jacquez Champion's dreams come true would be an understatement.   Read more...

Graduation Ceremonies Have Begun. Check the Schedule and Watch Live!

Graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2018 are underway. Ceremonies are held for graduates of 32 schools, programs and academies across Palm Beach County.

The Palm Beach County School District's television station, The Education Network, is streaming LIVE coverage of the ceremonies.

Graduations will be Open and Closed captioned for the deaf and hard of hearing viewers for the first hour.

Three District Schools Welcome New Principals

New leadership was on the agenda as Shari Bremekamp was introduced as principal of Hidden Oaks Elementary School, Corey Brooks as principal of William T. Dwyer High School, and Eli Morales as principal of Okeeheelee Middle School, during the School Board meeting on May 9. Read more...



Two Palm Beach County School District high schools again placed in the top 100 high schools in the country by U.S. News and World Report in its recent Best High Schools Ranking.

Suncoast High School came in 61st in the top rankings in the nation and number six for the state's best program.

Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts was ranked 80th in the nation and 11th in the state.

The Best High School list is based on a wide variety of criteria such as teacher to student ratio, the college readiness of graduates and their math and reading test scores, the successes of the 'disadvantaged' students such as black, Hispanic and low-income students versus statewide results for these students and graduation rates.

Last year, Dreyfoos had a graduation rate of 99.1%, while Suncoast's was 100%.

Wellington High School, #2104 in the nation and #151 in the state

The School District of Palm Beach County wants to hear from parents, employees, students, business leaders and the community about how they're getting their news about the District, and how they want the District to share news with them.

From now until May 31, the Palm Beach County community is invited to take an online survey to share their thoughts on how they want to receive news from the District - whether it's by email, mobile app, information posted on the District's website, or posts shared on social media. They also will be asked to share how they currently learn about what's happening in the District. Learn more...





The School District of Palm Beach County and the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County (BDB) are frequent partners in building the future of our community in economic and workforce development.

You're invited to participate in the PBC Skills workforce initiative by participating in this survey.

This project is an important step in bridging the gap between employer needs and available workforce skills and input from Palm Beach County residents is critical! It should take just 10 to 15 minutes to complete.






We're hiring school bus drivers! The Transportation Job Fair will be held Thursday, May 31, at the Central Transportation Compound on Summit Blvd. 

Successful candidates will be paid $11.04 per hour up to 80 hours during training. Successful trainees who become school bus drivers will receive a starting pay of $14.42 per hour; full benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, and the ability to participate in a Retirement Program.

More than 50 high school students who are enrolled in Education Choice Academies throughout the District signed contracts last week, offering them teaching positions in  the School District of Palm Beach County upon successful completion of their college degrees!

Representatives from  Florida Atlantic University and  Palm Beach State College were on hand to present scholarships and help us honor our future educators.  Watch the video...
