Registrations are now being accepted for the Township of Brock Annual Golf Tournament! 

Township of Brock Charity Golf Tournament - Thursday June 21, 2018 
Registration Fee: $140.00 

 
On June 21st we will return to Cedarhurst Golf Club near Beaverton for the 20th year and you are invited to join us.  Included with your registration package is a barbeque lunch, use of a  golf cart, entry in the putting & chipping contests, a hot dinner and  a complimentary gift.
 
Over the past 19 years, 124 grants have been awarded to 51 organizations offering youth programs in Brock. More than $196,133 has been raised and all of it has been reinvested in programs and services for our young people.
 
Don't wait to add your name to the list as space is limited. Help us make this year's 
Tournament a success!

Burn By-law

Residents who would like to have a small outdoor fire are encouraged to contact the Township of Brock Fire Department at 705-432-2355 . Residents must have a valid 2018 permit and must follow the Burn By-law .

The Township of Brock Summer Day Camp is for children aged 4-12 and is a great way for your kids to keep active, make new friends and have fun this summer! Camps take place at the arenas in Sunderland, Cannington and Beaverton weekdays between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m

Early Bird Discount - Register by May 31, 2018 and receive a $10 discount per week per child.

Space is limited and late registrations will not be accepted.  Registration at the non-discounted rate for each week of camp closes at 12:00 p.m. (noon) the Friday prior to each week. (Example: Registration for Week 2 which begins July 9th, closes Friday at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on July 6, 2018)

Township of Brock residents can find out whether they're on the list to vote for the upcoming municipal and school board elections at voterlookup.ca.
 
voterlookup.ca is an online service used to collect and confirm information that will be used in the preparation of the final Voters' List. You can also change your school support for electoral purposes and add names to your property address.
 
To confirm your information is accurately recorded for the upcoming election, log on to voterlookup.ca using your property address or assessment roll number and your full name and date of birth. Updating this information will help to ensure that municipal Voters' List is accurate and up-to-date in preparation for municipal and school board election occurring on October 22, 2018.

2018 Municipal Election 


Nominations for the Township of Brock Municipal Election, which will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018, are be accepted for the following list of elected offices by completing the prescribed form in the Office of the Clerk:

Mayor:
One (1) Member to be elected by general vote;

Regional Councillor:
One (1) Member to be elected by general vote;

Ward Councillors:
Five (5) Members to be elected by the electors of each of the five (5) Wards in the Township of Brock.

*Regional Chair
One (1) to be elected to represent the combined area of the Regional Municipality of Durham

*NOTE: Nominations will be received in the Clerk's office of the Regional Municipality of Durham, 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby, Ontario, L1N 6A3

*English Language Durham District School Board - Durham District School Board
One (1) Trustee to be elected to represent the combined area of the Townships of Uxbridge, Scugog, and Brock.

*NOTE: Nominations will be received in the Clerk's office of the Township of Scugog, 181 Perry Street, Port Perry, Ontario

*English Language Durham Catholic District School Board - Durham Catholic District School Board
One (1) Trustee to be elected to represent the combined area of the Townships of Uxbridge, Scugog, and Brock.

Nomination Procedures
Nominations are required to be submitted on the prescribed form (available at the Clerk's office), which must be endorsed by at least 25 persons who are eligible electors within the Township of Brock and shall be filed IN Person or by an Agent at the Clerk's office, Township of Brock Municipal Administration Building, 1 Cameron Street East, Cannington, Ontario, L0E 1E0, during normal office hours (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) commencing Tuesday, May 1, 2018. The last date to file a nomination form is Friday, July 27, 2018 (Nomination Day) between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Each filed nomination form must be accompanied with the prescribed nomination fee ($200 - Mayor and $100 - all other positions) payable by cash, certified cheque, money order, or debit only. No person who proposes to be a candidate may solicit or accept contributions for election purposes or incur campaign expenses until a nomination paper has been filed.


Registrations from Third Party Advertisers for the Election, which will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018, will be accepted by completing the prescribed form in the Office of the Clerk.

Qualifications
You may register as a Third Party Advertiser if you meet the following qualifications:
·         An individual who is normally a resident of Ontario;
·         A corporation that carries on a business in Ontario;
·         A trade union that holds bargaining rights for employees in Ontario.

Restrictions
The following are restricted from registering as a Third Party Advertiser:
  • A candidate whose nomination paper has been filed;
  • A federal political party registered under the Canada Elections Act or any federal constituency association or registered candidate at a federal election endorsed by that party;
  • A provincial political party, constituency association, registered candidate or leadership contestant under the Election Finances Act;
  • The Crown in right of Canada or Ontario, a municipality, or local board. 
Advertisements
Third Party Advertisements shall only be placed after the Third Party Advertiser has registered with the Clerk within each municipality where advertisements are to be placed.

Financial Obligations
Registered Third Party Advertisers are subject to spending limits and must file a financial statement.

Registration Procedures

No person who proposes to be registered may solicit or accept contributions for election purposes or incur expenses until a registration has been filed.

Brock Township Public Library News
  • On May 26th start your day in pajamas, and eating pancakes at the Beaverton Branch Library. Beginning Saturday May 26th, EarlyON Play to Learn Programming will be offered on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Beaverton Library. Join Sara for activities, circle time and snacks geared to children 0-6 years, along with coffee, tea and social time for parents and caregivers. Older siblings can enjoy Lego, board games, crafts and stop motion video making with library staff. So, schedule in some FREE family fun on Saturday mornings at the Beaverton Branch Library. 
     
    This drop in program is offered by EarlyON and the Beaverton Branch Library. Call the Beaverton Branch Library at 705-426-9283 and ask to speak to Lori or Sue for further information
  • Brock Township Public Library is seeking one summer student for the Position of Technology Services Assistant. This is a 217.5 hour contract position. Duties will include assisting with technical training for staff, hardware/software installation and maintenance, assisting with the delivery of a computer coding camp and more. South Lake Futures 

Member Recruitment 

Continuing to build on its successes, South Lake Futures remains open to interest from potential candidates on an ongoing basis.

Members may have an interest in a variety of committees assisting in overall operations of the corporation. Members are eligible to vote at the Annual General Meeting, and may be eligible to be nominated at the AGM to serve on the Board of Directors.

Eligible candidates must be 18 years of age, a resident in one of the three communities we serve, have a good knowledge of their community and a history of community involvement. Specific expertise in business, finance or community economic development is a strong asset.
