The CSI Music Department proudly announces the eleventh annual Spring Jazz Collaboration, to be held Wednesday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m., in the CSI Fine Arts Auditorium. Admission is free, but donations to the CSI Music Department Scholarship Fund are always appreciated.

This year's collaboration features the CSI Madrigals and the CSI Jazz Ensemble. The CSI Madrigals are an elite auditioned group of eight outstanding CSI students who perform primarily a Cappella music in a wide variety of styles, including vocal jazz. The CSI Jazz Ensemble, a semi-professional group where current CSI music students have the opportunity to play alongside professional musicians, performs a wide repertoire of big band music. Some of the tunes to be featured on the concert are Here's That Rainy Day (Dave Barduhn), Satin Doll (Duke Ellington), How High the Moon (The Manhattan Transfer), Four Brothers (Woody Herman), Corner Pocket (Count Basie), and Blue Skies (Irving Berlin).

"A Russian Romance with music by Rachmaninoff, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Borodin"

Join us for a delightful evening of Russian music presented by "Trebelle". Trebelle is a combination of the Italian words "tre" (three) and "belle" (the plural form of the word, beauty). Every year, Trebelle performs popular and hidden gems in the piano trio repertoire. Trebelle members are violinist and Twin Falls native--Jennifer Dunn, cellist Heidi Nagel, and pianist Robyn Wells.

Jennifer Dunn began violin lessons with her mother, Judy Call. She received her Bachelor of Music in Performance and Music  History from the University of Utah, and teacher certification from the College of Idaho. Heidi Nagel received her undergraduate degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. She obtained her Master of Music degree in cello performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying with cellist Parry Karp of the Pro Arte String Quartet. Robyn Wells received her Bachelor of Music in piano performance from Pacific Lutheran. For the last 33 years, Robyn has been very active as a private teacher and has been adjunct piano faculty at the College of Idaho since 2003.

Trebelle will perform works by Rachmaninoff, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Borodin.

The College of Southern Idaho is now accepting registrations for this summer's Music Fest, which runs June 11 - 15, 2018 at the CSI Fine Arts Center. Registrations will be accepted through May 1.

Music Fest, a music day camp for students age 12 to 18, is an opportunity for students to participate in many areas of music and interact with a faculty of professional music educators from all over the state who are chosen for their expertise in their field and work with youth. Students choose a major and spend significant time each day in classes related to their major. Available majors include strings, vocal, musical theater, percussion, organ, and piano. In addition to work in their major, all students participate in the camp choir and have three elective periods to choose from. There are a wide variety of elective classes to choose from, such as drumming circle, small ensembles, musical theater, girls' choir, and many more. On the last evening of the camp, all students perform in the Music Fest concert.

CSI Music Fest is exceptionally affordable. Tuition is $195 for early bird tuition prior to March 15 or $225 after March 15. This fee covers all program costs for the students, including instructional materials. Housing is available for those students wishing to homestay with Twin Falls students and their families. Other optional items such as photos, lunches, and private lessons are also available for an additional cost. All students must be registered by May 1. A limited number of needs-based scholarships are available.

For more information or to obtain a registration form, go to www.csi.edu/musicfest or stop by the CSI Fine Arts Center. You can also call Camille Barigar at 732-6288 or e-mail [email protected].
