March is Women's History Month - a time to celebrate the vital role women have played throughout American history. From the Executive Office of the Mayor to local small-business owners, women have proven to be an integral part of the District's creative economy.

Our creative community recently lost Peggy Cooper Cafritz, the grande dame of arts in the District. For more than five decades, Ms. Cooper Cafritz was a fixture in the city. She played a key part in founding the Duke Ellington School of the Arts and will be truly missed.

This month, the DC Entertainment Office salutes Ms. Cooper Cafritz and the District's dynamic leaders on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram platforms. We hope you will join us in recognizing the women of DC across all 8 Wards who make our nation's capital a vibrant place to work and live.
