Kiara has been accepted to Vermont Southern University!

1. What are you interested in studying in college and why?
I am interested in Political Science because I want to be a voice for those who can't have their voice heard. 
 
2. What are you passionate about?
I am most passionate about spending quality time with my family. They teach me how to value every single moment I have with loved ones.

3. What part of college are you looking forward to the most?
The experience of getting to know new people who come from different backgrounds!

How can you register for the ACCUPLACER?
The Accuplacer will be offered to registered seniors on Tuesday, April 24.

What is the ACCUPLACER?
The ACCUPLACER is a computerized self-paced, untimed test. The test is delivered in a multiple choice format.
 
Most students complete the test within 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Your scores will determine which English and math courses you are eligible to take.
 
How can I prepare for the ACCUPLACER?

Workshops will be held after school on Mondays and Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30pm!

Need help preparing for the September ACT? 


The Summer ACT Prep program will help students prepare for the September ACT through weekly 1.5 hour classes offered in a small group setting. Students will be expected to attend their group classes once a week and take two mock ACT tests.

DUE DATE:  April 8, 2018
AMOUNT:  $1,000-$10,000 (25)
ELIGIBILITY: Graduate from a high school in the DMV, be a U.S. citizen, be admitted and committed to attend a four-year college in the Fall of 2018, demonstrate commitment to community service, have a 2.75 or higher GPA, combined SAT scores of 850 or 19 or higher on the ACT, exhibit financial need.

NAME:  Student Insights-Student View Scholarship
DUE DATE: April 22, 2018
AMOUNT:  $500-$4,000
ELIGIBILITY:  Complete a 15-25 minute online survey about local colleges and be entered into a random drawing for a scholarship award.

NAME: Great Minds in Stem Heenaac Awards 
DUE DATE:  April 30, 2018
AMOUNT: $500-$10,000 
ELIGIBILITY: Must demonstrate leadership, must be interested in a Science, technology, Engineering, or Math related major, GPA of 3.0 or higher, must enroll in a 2 or 4 year college during fall 2019, must be of Hispanic origin or actively participate in Hispanic community

NAME: Central Scholarship
DUE DATE:  April 3, 2018
AMOUNT: Up to $10,000 per year
ELIGIBILITY:  Maryland resident in grade 12 with a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Family income is below $90,000 per year, or $66,000 for students pursuing career/technology training. Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident.

Shepherd was founded in 1871 in Shepherdstown, West Virginia and approximately 3,800 undergraduates attend the university.




Shepherd University offers more than 79 undergraduate programs, which include a variety of majors!


Shepherd is recommended for students interested in majoring in Sports Communication, Sports Marketing, Athletic Coaching, Aquatic Science, Environmental Engineering, Photography/Computer Imagery, and Historic Preservation/Public History.
  

Shepherd has twelve NCAA Division II teams, including men's football, men's basketball, women's basketball, and women's volleyball (among others).
