REGION VII'S CONFERENCE SESSION IDEA
"CROWDSOURCING PLATFORM"

To help facilitate collaboration and cross-state connection of presenters for conference sessions,  we encourage you to utilize the   Region VII Crowdsourcing Platform  open now through June 4th.

This platform allows you to share ideas, connect with diverse co-presenters, and identify colleagues with similar ideas in order to develop session proposals before they are due.

Then, submit your session proposals April 16, 2018 - June 15th on the NAFSA Region VII website.

Region VII is seeking proposals which include co-presenters from a range of institution types and well developed ideas have a better chance of being selected for the conference, so make sure to check it periodically for new ideas! There's plenty of time, but don't wait too long.

PROPOSED INFORMATION COLLECTION

The current administration has sent out a new proposed requirement that all visa applicants, except those applying for diplomatic or "official" visas, provide the last 5 years of their social media handles, email addresses, telephone numbers, and international travel, amongst many other forms of private information.

The rule was just proposed in the federal register, so there is a 60 day comment period in which anyone may provide feedback. Do keep in mind that it is a public forum, and anything that you write could be used publicly later. You are recommended to keep you comments professional and to the facts on exactly why and how this will affect your students and scholars.
