PARKING ALONG THE PARKWAY: Ocean Pines Police are working to educate residents and guests of frequent parking violations in Ocean Pines. Officers will be out and about, placing these bright yellow flyers in vehicle windows of violators. It's an effort to make roadways in Ocean Pines safer. 50th Anniversary
The Anniversary Parade along Ocean Parkway begins at 10:00 a.m. The parade staging area is the road leading to the Worcester County Wastewater Plant where parade entries only will be directed by Ocean Pines Police Officers and our Neighborhood Watch Volunteers. Parade registration deadline is Wednesday, May 16, 2018.

A Huge Thank You to instructors Jackie, Linda, Ron, Bob and Frank, who are giving Clinics this month to about 40 Intermediate and Advanced Intermediate players. The drills are excellent, and the most important message received by players is that the way to improve our game is to get out and practice our drills repeatedly! Photos taken by Jackie and Julie.

Intermediate Players
May 24th, at 10:30am
This one-hour clinic for Intermediate players will be led by Linda Hortz and Jackie & Ron Kurtz. Drills will work on different aspects of the game, such as dinks, drop shot, serve, ball control, court positioning, etc.   Each Clinic is limited to the first 12 who sign-up. 
Ocean Pines Platform Tennis

Dedication of platform tennis courts 5 and 6 on Thursday, May 24th. Dedication begins at 10AM at platform tennis courts located at Manklin Meadows Racquet Complex.
 
Purpose: To dedicate courts in honor of U.S. veterans.
Platform tennis would like to invite and to strongly encourage veterans to come to this dedication and try out platform tennis.
Food: Light fare (fresh fruit, donuts, bagels, cheeses crackers, coffee, tea, juice)
 
Veterans FREE Lessons and Play: Free lessons and play begins after 10 o'clock dedication ceremony. All veterans will receive FREE month of lessons and play. Paddle and balls will be supplied. Sneakers required and safety glasses recommended.
 
Play Schedule: Courts will be open/available after ceremony until 2PM for those who attend dedication ceremony and want to play.

Commissioner Town Hall Meeting, May 19 at 10am
Worcester County Commissioner Chip Bertino will host a town meeting on Saturday, May 19 at 10 a.m. at the Ocean Pines library. He will discuss issues and developments impacting the Ocean Pines district and the county. Commissioner Bertino’s guests include Health Officer Becky Jones and Assistant School Superintendent Steve Price.

Delmarva Chorus of Sweet Adelines held Its Installation Ceremony

The Delmarva Chorus of Sweet Adelines International, under the direction of Carol Ludwig, will hold an open house/guest night on Monday, May 14, 2018, 7pm, in the Ocean Pines Community Center. This will also be the kick-off night for our plans of forming a chorus of at least 50 female singers to perform at the June 21, 2018 opening of the Free Summer Concert Series in White Horse Park, Ocean Pines.
 
Come on May 14 and find out what we are all about, or plan to attend at least two Monday rehearsals between May 14 and June 18 to learn the two songs being performed, acapella, in barbershop harmony style. Each week, 7pm to 7:45pm will be dedicated to the two songs before the chorus continues with regular rehearsal activities.
 
For the Anniversary Chorus: No auditioning necessary. Females of all ages are welcome. The ability to read music is not required. Word sheets will be provided for the two very familiar selections. Attendance at two or more 45 minutes rehearsals is preferred.

Kiwanis Opens Duck “Race” Season: Time for the ducks! Kiwanis begins their “Duck Race” season by selling $5 entries for the August 24th race to benefit Kiwanis Children’s programs like scholarships and student leadership clubs in local schools.
