2018 Appalachian TrailFest

Celebrating the Appalachian Trail and outdoor recreation, our first festival of the season is happening the weekend of April 21st, 22nd and 23rd.  This annual event brings local trail enthusiasts together with thru-hikers to share stories and enjoy music and activities.

Friday night, enjoy a Spaghetti Dinner at Mosaic Gourmet and then stroll down the AT to the Welcome Center to hear a talk entitled 'Lessons From an Older Thru-Hiker' by David Brill.  Saturday will be the big day with early morning yoga, live music, food, gear and information vendors, hiker games, AT movies, ducky race and evening hiker feed at Laughing Heart Hostel.  Sunday morning fuel up for the trail with a generous Pancake Breakfast at Mosaic Gourmet.

This years festival is sponsored by and benefits the Madison County Group Home of Hot Springs.
Donations for the Silent Auction are appreciated and may be dropped off at the Welcome Center.

Series of Interviews of Townsfolk
Faces of Hot Springs

You'll enjoy these heartfelt stories written by avid trail hiker Arnold Bloodhound Guzman.  His series begins with an introduction, after which you will find links to interviews with Mayor Sidney Harrison and Police Chief David Shelton.

He writes with style and good humor, discussing perspectives on Appalachian Trail hikers and their travels through our town.

Hot Springs Welcome Center

The mission of The Welcome Center is to promote local businesses, events and area attractions of Hot Springs to all visitors and guests of town.  We are located in the heart of downtown at 106 Bridge S treet, across from the Post Office.

This year we are already preparing for another busy tourist season.  During last year's 2017 Season our staff documented over 15,000 visitors stopping by.

The Center is part museum with fascinating exhibits highlighting our history and natural beauty.  Whether you are new to town or a lifelong resident, you will enjoy viewing the special photos of our historic hotels, Dorland School, Stackhouse, Cecil Sharp, the German internment camp and more.

The Welcome Center is operated in part by the Hot Springs Tourism Association with support from the Town of Hot Springs and the Madison County Tourism Development Authority.
