Dr. Donald E. Fennoy II, a veteran educator who worked his way from elementary school teacher to Chief Operating Officer of the nation's 11th largest school district, was selected earlier this month by the Palm Beach County School Board as the District's 26th Superintendent of Schools.

Chiefs for Change: Dr. Fennoy Discusses His Obligation to Ensure Successful Outcomes for all Students
Dr. Fennoy keeps his great-grandfather's high school diploma hanging in his office as a reminder of where his family has come from.

"It's a fierce obligation and moral obligation that I have to do this work," he shares. "Obviously a lot of things were put in place for me to be where I am, so I think I'm morally obligated to continue that legacy and create these opportunities for kids."

Palm Beach Post: New Schools Chief Should Focus on Old Specialty

The Palm Beach Post Editorial Board believes our incoming Superintendent should focus on reading, as one of the long-term outcomes of the District's Strategic Plan is to increase the number of students reading on grade level by third grade.

Luckily for us, Dr. Donald E. Fennoy II has quite a bit of experience in this particular area. He began his career in 1999 as - you guessed it - a third grade reading teacher. Read more...

Expanding the Fleet: As Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Fennoy Led Roll Out of New School Buses
 
The Superintendent is both the academic and business leader of the school district, something Dr. Donald Fennoy understands very well.

Before being named the District's 26th Superintendent of Schools earlier this month, Dr. Fennoy served as our Chief Operating Officer and oversaw a wide range of District functions, from the  Palm Beach County School District Police Department and School Food Services to Transportation and Planning & Intergovernmental Relations.

Last year, Dr.  Fennoy proudly unveiled 78 new school buses that were purchased using funds generated by the one-cent sales tax increase.
