PTSA NEWS
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello Everyone,

We had a wonderful time giving out treats to celebrate our 100% membership with the students. Now we are going to have a party for our membership with Hats off to IS.
The ISPTSA is having their annual fundraiser "Hats off to IS" on April 21st from 7:00-9:30 pmTickets will go on sale April 2 nd Please take a moment to mark your calendar for this fun event as a community builder and also a fundraiser.

I encourage you to come and attend the documentary Angst that is being shown for free this Tuesday. When ISPTSA viewed the Screenagers movie, our turnout was light but the subject stayed around to this day as we all deal with the pull of the phone. I think Angst will be the same way. Only through our PTSA fundraising does IS have the opportunity to show these important films to our community. Take advantage of this and also plan on supporting our school at the fundraiser and party on the 21 st .

IS HOSTS 'ANGST': A FILM ABOUT ANXIETY ON MARCH 27, AT 7:00 PM, IN THE IPAC

Please join us on T uesday, March 27th at 7:00 pm in the IPAC for a showing of Angst, a film that explores anxiety, its causes, effects and what we can do about it. The filmmakers' goal is to have a global conversation and raise awareness around anxiety. Angst features candid interviews with kids and young adults who suffer, or have suffered, from anxiety and what they've learned about it.

The film includes discussions with mental health experts about the causes of anxiety and its sociological effects, as well as help, resources and tools. Following the showing, we'll have a question and answer session about anxiety and teens with Dr. Laura Kastner, Ph.D., a clinical professor in the department of psychology and the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at U.W.

There is no cost to attend this event thanks to funding from the PTSA. For more information about the movie and Dr. Kastner, please click here.

SAT SUMMER PREP CAMPS AT TYEE MIDDLE SCHOOL

There is a local opportunity to take a 1 week SAT prep camp this July at Tyee Middle School (for students entering grades 8-11).

Wise Camps (a non-profit) usually offers academic (mostly science & math) camps for younger campers, but last summer we had so many requests for an SAT Math camp, we offered one and it was extremely popular. So this summer we decided to add an SAT English camp as well based on camper and parent requests.

The SAT camps will be offered the weeks of July 16-20th and July 23-27th. More details and registration information are at www.wisecamps.org.
