Center Stage Series presents EVIDENCE Saturday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for Faith and Life, Main Hall. Enjoy this traditional African dance blended with contemporary choreography. Tickets are free with CAF at the Ticket Office or at tickets.luther.edu ! 
J-TERM 2019 IN N. IRELAND, ENGLAND, AND FRANCE: English 262: "Tolkien and Lewis in Context" follows the lives and works of two of the great fantasy writers of the 20th century. Information meeting will be held on Thursday March 15 at 9:45 a.m. in Main 113. For more information contact David Faldet.

Philip Borter, Luther College assistant professor of music, will give a faculty recital with collaborative pianist Miko Kominami, Luther instructor in music, at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 10, in the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music, Noble Recital Hall.

Kathleen Brown-Rice, chair of division of counseling and psychology in education and associate professor of counselor education at the University of South Dakota, will discuss the neurological factors of resiliency and how resiliency is developed during a guest lecture at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in Valders Hall of Science, Room 206. The lecture is titled, "Understanding and Nurturing Resiliency."

French Film Series : 8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 11, Hovde Lounge, Preus Library. This semester, we highlight interactions among people of different classes and ethnic groups. Inch'Allah dimanche tells the story of Zouina, an Algerian woman who joins her husband in France, after a separation of 10 years. A strange culture, family difficulties and racist neighbors challenge her. This prize-winning film is in French and Arabic with English subtitles. All are welcome to attend.

J-TERM IN GERMANY AND THE UNITED KINGDOM: The Paideia 450 course "Green Europe: Advanced Models of Sustainability" explores the state of the energy transition from fossil fuels to renewables in the two largest economies in Europe. Visit Berlin, London, and other amazing communities in Germany and the UK. An information meeting will be held from 9:40-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 15 in Valders 375. Monday, March 12: Pop-in session for students interested in learning more about competitive fellowships and scholarships, 3:30-5:00 p.m., Mott Room (Union), Students who have navigated applying for Fulbright, Goldwater, Peace Scholar, and other programs, and Honors Advisory Committee members will answer questions about all fellowship opportunities. Luther's 2001 Rhodes Scholar Phil Assmus will be attending and available for conversation and questions.

Dialogue on Gun Control: Faculty, staff, and students are invited to a conversation on gun control in America. We'll dig in to this divisive issue and try to understand perspectives from all sides. Thursday, March 15, 5:30 p.m. in Hovde Room. Sponsored by CEPE.

Take an Alcohol Screening-Get A Free Drink -- Tuesday, March 13 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at a table in Dahl Centennial Union. Counseling Service and Wellness in partnership with Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health will be offering students a free coupon for a Marty's shake for completing and reviewing an alcohol use screening. National School Walkout: Join Educators for Social Justice and Student Senate in walking out of class at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14 to stand in solidarity with the 17 victims of the Parkland school shooting as part of the #Enough! National School Walkout. Students, faculty, staff, and administrators are welcome to meet on the steps of the CFL to remember, reflect, and respond to the gun violence that is plaguing our schools.

Join us for a conversation on channeling your voice into effective activism on March 15 at 7:00 p.m. in Olin 102! The event will be facilitated by Jennifer Mandelblatt, Founder of Platform, a D.C. based organization that aims to "ensure young women's voices influence political choices about our bodies, our lives, and our futures." The event will include dialogue on intersectional feminism in our modern political environment, advocacy training, and empowering women.  
 
Focus is hosting a mini lock-in from 7:00-10:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10 in the Center for Faith and Life, Recital Hall and Qualley Lounge. It will be a fun night of worship, pizza, and fellowship. All are invited to come and join us for what is bound to be an unforgettable night!  

SPIN Theatre, a Luther College student theatre organization, will perform their annual 1,440-minute musical at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 10, in Luther's Jewel Theatre.  The family-friendly musical is open to the public, and tickets are $5, available at the door.   Options for this year's musical are "Jekyll and Hyde: the Musical," "Grease," "Seussical," "Elf: the Musical," "Camp Rock" and "Oklahoma!"  For more information, contact marketing director Noah Tiegs, Luther class of 2020, at  [email protected] .
GRAD FINALE

Tuesday & Wednesday, March 13-14 from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in the Dahl Centennial Union. Grads need to stop by to pick-up their caps and gowns and commencement tickets, review/update their diploma, and vote for an outstanding senior. Receive a key chain plus a chance to win a $25 gift card, receive $25 off diploma frame, purchase class ring. Featuring a collection of Scandinavian songs, performed by members of the Luther College vocal coaching studio, Luther faculty member Nicholas Shaneyfelt presents the Faculty Artist Series: Song + 1 at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 15, in the Center for Faith and Life Recital Hall. 

Krahn Family Student Life Service Award - Nominations for this award must be current Sophomore and Junior students who have demonstrated a strong contribution to campus life in a way that embraces the spirit and mission of Luther College. Any student, faculty, or staff member may nominate a student. This award is designed to recognize a student who makes a positive impact to student life. The $1,000 award is expected to be over and above any financial assistance a student receives. Nomination form can be found here. Nominations due by April 4.

Kuh Family "Positively Luther" Award
- This award is given each year to a student whose character, leadership, and participation in co-curricular and other educationally purposeful activities enhance the quality of campus life. The recipient must be in good academic standing with a demonstrated need for financial assistance. This $5,000 award is expected to be over and above the financial aid package offered by the College. Students may apply for this award through April 4.

Wellness is hiring Wellness Ambassadors for 2018-19. Ambassadors work to promote health and wellness on campus for students and employees. Students interested in health and wellness, and with majors in health and fitness promotion, nursing, pre-professional medical, psychology, social work, and other health related fields are encouraged to apply. Please email for an application. Preference will be give to applications received by March 20. 

Toys Go 'Round is a local, non-profit institution that offers a large variety of fun and educational toys to families, community members and many excited kids! TGR is seeking a librarian's assistant to work Thursdays, 4-7pm, with additional hours available based on schedule. Located on the Lower Level of the Decorah Public Library. Duties include cataloging and maintaining the toy collection, as well as customer service work behind the toy librarian's desk.  Further questions, please email Sandhya.

RERUNS
SAC Cinema pre sents Coco! Aspiring musician Miguel, confronted with his family's ancestral ban on music, enters the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer. The movie will be shown Friday, March 9 in Valders 206 at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 7:00 p.m. Free with CAF or $5 without, includes free popcorn while supplies last. Co-sponsored by Dance Marathon, the Diversity Center, the Spanish department, and Hola-Enlaces.
The Luther College Annual Benefactors Organ Recital, set for 4 p.m. Sunday, March 11, in the Center for Faith and Life, features Netherlands native Paul Tegels. The program includes Prelude and Fugue in G Major, BWV 541 by Bach, Sonata VI by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, "Preludio pro organo pleno" by Johann Kittel and "Finale" from Sonata I by Alexandre Guilmant. 

Members of the Luther community are invited to attend an armed intruder training on Tuesday, March 13   in Olin Hall 102. In order to accommodate varying schedules we will offer two sessions, one at 4:00 p.m. and the second at 6:00 p.m. Sessions will last one hour each. The training will focus on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Run, Hide, Fight model. Luther College's Bob Harri (Director of Safety and Security) and Kris Franzen (Assistant Dean for Student Life) will be leading the training.

Play dodgeball with your friends while supporting kids at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital and LCDM. The event is taking place Friday, March 16 at 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Regents Center Main Gym. Sign up as a team and challenge your friends to register for a friendly competition! $3 a person, 6 people per team, and prizes for the winning team! Each team is guaranteed at least two games of play.

TEXTBOOK RETURNS: To be certain you have all books needed for your spring 2018 classes, the Book Shop strongly encourages you to purchase those titles now. Other than second seven weeks titles, the Book Shop will be returning textbooks to publishers beginning Tuesday, March 6.
