The Gallery at Three Rivers is currently showing
Vapor Fave: A Three Rivers Art Club Exhibition. The show runs through February 9, and features the work of Graham Armstrong, Sam Day, David Fontaine, Troy Helme, Hunter Lane, Ray Stephenson and Hannah Walsh.
There will be a closing reception on Thursday, February 1 from 6:30-8:00 pm in the gallery.

Dear Colleagues,
The spring semester has gotten off to a fresh start. The halls are bustling with students attending classes and meeting professors. Everyone has adjusted to our delayed opening due to mother nature's winter wonderland.
We started the semester with positive news from the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education that our Interim Report (5th year) was accepted, and the college received many laudatory compliments on the quality of the report, the thoughtful reflective essay and state-of-the-art classrooms, to mention a few. The semester will be busy with various faculty searches, the legislative breakfast and planning for the renovations in the A-Wing. By now, the rhythm of the spring semester has been established, and we turn the calendar to a new month -- February.
Have an exciting semester! We can count on this Sunday being a nail-bitter! Go Patriots!

The Full Plate Food Pantry Ribbon Cutting
On December 7, The Full Plate Food Pantry officially opened in its new location, in D-111, with a ribbon cutting.

Three Rivers Increases Resources for Homeless Students
Recent studies show that up to half of community college students are housing insecure and 14 percent are homeless, so securing resources to assist its students is a priority at Three Rivers Community College.
The College is excited to announce that it has been awarded a $7,000 grant by the Melville Charitable Trust to fund expenses related to the educational and employment goals of homeless students. In addition to the grant funding, Three Rivers is participating in the Youth Count Survey as part of the 2018 CT Coalition to End Homelessness and has named a point person for homelessness on campus.

Professional Development Day Focuses on Grading Reform
Faculty and staff gathered on January 16 for Professional Development Day. After breakfast and remarks by President Jukoski and Dean Ice, faculty participated in a presentation on grading reform by Dr. Scott Brown and Brad Columbus. New Student Orientation was a Hit!
The
Meet n' Greet in the Cafeteria on Thursday, January 11, was a wonderful opportunity for faculty and staff to represent their department and programs. The incoming new, readmit, and transfer students were excited to learn more about academic programs, student clubs, and campus resources. Thanks to all those who participated.

Fond Farewell to Laura Qin
 Three Rivers wished a fond farewell to Laura Qin, the Director of Institutional Research.
Laura made an impact on the College in the past few years through her prompt and thorough reporting of institutional data as well as her involvement on various committees and engagement with faculty colleagues. She has moved with her family to Washington, D.C. and will be missed.

25th Nursing Pinning Ceremony
Congratulations to the nursing class of Fall 2017. On Friday, December 15,
34 nursing students received their nursing pins, marking the completion of their nursing degree and serving as a symbol of their readiness to serve as compassionate professional caregivers.

Campus is transformed into a Winter Wonderland!
Congratulations to IT on winning the Decorate Your Office Contest! The office was transformed into a gingerbread house, complete with a carol-playing live gingerbread man, hot chocolate and a decorate-your-own gingerbread man station.
