More Range Safety Officer (RSO) Courses Coming!
We're looking to run more RSO courses in the near future. For more details, or if you're interested in participating in one, please email Tom Opgenorth, Rifle Director: rifle@spfga.ca.

We know that a number of you have expressed interest in participating prior to COVID-19 complicating 2020. We'll be giving you priority for these.
Announcing our new maintenance technician!
We're pleased to announce that we have hired Deryk Emerson as our full-time maintenance technician.

We're excited to have Deryk join the SPFGA team and look forward to continuing to improve the quality of the experience of visiting our property. Deryk just started with us at the beginning of August and already we've begun receiving compliments from members about the state of the property!

For comments or questions, please email Chris Russell, Operations Director: operations@spfga.ca.
Lost and found
With a full-time employee now on the property, members who have misplaced items and members finding misplaced items can approach Deryk while he is working Tuesday - Saturday 9 am to 5 pm about them.

Items will be stored in the garage and Deryk would be more than happy to help lost items return back to their owners.

In addition, please feel free to contact Chris Russell, Operations Director about lost or found items: operations@spfga.ca.
Canadian Rimfire Precision Series (CRPS) match Sept 5
Membership has its privileges. In conjunction with the CRPS, SPFGA is proud to host a Canadian Rimfire Precision Series match on the Big Bore range on Saturday, September 5 exclusive to SPFGA members.

CRPS is all about shooting .22LR at distances up to 300 m from a variety of challenging shooting positions. If you've ever attended our monthly Outlaw Rimfire Precision Series (ORPS) matches, it's like that, but over longer distances.

Please contact Tom Opgenorth, Rifle Director with questions: rifle@spfga.ca
Rimfire Raceguns match Sept 6
More membership privileges: On Sunday, September 6, in conjunction with the CRPS we will be hosting a Vortex Rimfire Racegun match exclusively for SPFGA members on the 50 m range.

Come out and ring steel targets at distances from 10 to 35 m with your .22LR rifle or pistol. This is similar to Steel Challenge, but specifically for .22LR firearms.

Please contact Tom Opgenorth, Rifle Director with questions: rifle@spfga.ca
Binoculars found
A pair of binoculars was found by a member inside the front gate of the property by the sign-in box on Friday, August 21.

If you or someone you know has lost a pair, please email Chris Russell, Operations Director: operations@spfga.ca with a description so we can connect you back up with them.
Black Badge Course Sept 19 & 20
We will be holding an International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) Canada National Training Program Black Badge course on September 19 & 20 at the 50 m range.

The IPSC Black Badge course is required for individuals wishing to participate in IPSC-sanctioned competitive shooting events, but is also ideal for anyone wishing to improve their handgun skills in general.

Attendance both days is mandatory, as is an RPAL (unless arrangements have been made to have a handgun transported by an RPAL holder). Twelve spots available. Cost: $345/person (incl GST)

For complete course details, requirements, and to register:

Registration details will be coming soon, but meanwhile, please contact Mark Lowry, Handgun Director with questions: handgun@spfga.ca.
Portable toilet added to campground
In response to member feedback and requests, we have added a portable toilet to the campground loop.

Outhouses on the property remain closed as part of Phase 2 of our Re-opening Plan, with members using the campground being required to be self-sufficient with regard to toilets. Requests to add a portable toilet so that campground use can be extended to tent and tent trailer-using members have been heard.
F-Class Seminar Oct 18
The SPFGA, together with instructor Glen Taylor, will be hosting an F-Class seminar at the Big Bore range on Sunday, October 18.

F-Class is a precision long distance target shooting sport where participants shoot centerfire rifles at targets at distances from 300 to 900 m, steadied by a bipod or pedestal rest.

Registration details will be coming soon, but meanwhile please contact Tom Opgenorth, Rifle Director with questions: rifle@spfga.ca.

The Last Thought
In the August 18 edition, we inquired what your main source of club information is.

We received responses from 233 members, 233 (87.6%) indicating that our email streams were their primary source of information, 22 (8.3%) indicated that the website was their primary source, and 11 (4.1%) look to The Ketchamoot Discourse, our Facebook discussion group, for their information.
These Did You Know? articles, suggested by you as a source of quick reminders, highlight specific rules & briefly explain their reasoning.

Did you know that you no longer need to display your membership card while on the property?

The Board voted at the May 12 meeting to amend the Facility Rules to remove the requirement for members to display their membership card while on the property, a long-standing club requirement.

Members must have their card with them on the property and have it ready to present if requested, but display on the outside of the clothing is now no longer required.
