An Elite Personal Training Facility That Puts You First
PEX Health and Fitness Newsletter
Updates from Above Ground
Happy Newsletter Day!

I remember when I tried to write one newsletter per week. Now I am hoping for one newsletter per month. Hopefully it never gets to one newsletter per year, but you know what they say about using the word "hopefully" in a sentence...

Nothing, actually. Nobody has ever said anything about using "hopefully" in a sentence. At least I hope not.

Things have been picking up here at PEX -- which is awesome (to say the least). More and more people are making their way back to the gym, and it has been so nice to see everyone in person and not through a cracked iPad screen.
It's nice to see you again.
We have been batting 1.000 since traffic has picked up, and we most certainly aim to keep it that way. We have had hundreds of hours in the gym with live people training, and we have not had a single issue. Hooray us!

Our professional cleaning service (A&G Cleaners) has been amazing, our coaches have done an incredible job cleaning during all of their sessions, and our clients have done an awesome job at helping us run our facility in a safe and responsible fashion.

We couldn't ask for a better group of people, clients and coaches included, to collectively navigate our ship through these turbulent waters.
If you have made it this far, I hope you continue reading. If you can't continue reading, just know that the information contained in the remainder of this newsletter will reveal your photo, driver's license ID number, and social security number.

I am kidding?

Either way, this newsletter has a TON of stuff coming at you, so we hope you enjoy!

Love,

MC Hammer

GIRLS ON THE RUN
Girls on the Run Registration Now Open for the Fall

Are you looking for a way to keep your daughter healthy and active this fall?
ο»ΏJoin us for Girls on the Run.

"At Girls on the Run, we inspire girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Trained coaches lead small teams through research-based program that includes running games, activities and discussions. Over the course of the 10-week program, girls in 3rd through 8th grade establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness and develop essential skills to help them successfully navigate their world. The program culminates with a celebratory 5K to recognize the girls for all of their achievements.

In light of the COVID pandemic, we are limiting group sizes to 10-12 girls and will provide masks and hand sanitizer and have other safety measures in place. In the event that we need to pivot to a virtual program, we will continue the program online.

Girls in 3rd-5th grade will participate in Girls on the Run, while Girls in 6th-8th grade are in Heart & Sole. No running experience necessary! Girls set their own goals and we help them achieve them.

Practice will be held twice a week for 90 minutes at DeFazio Field in Needham. Girls outside of Needham are welcome to join if there is no Girls on the Run site in your town. You can also sign your girl up for a full virtual experience."

PEX SUPERSTARS
Meet PEX Superstar
Jack Funke

Xaverian Brothers High School
Offensive Lineman
6-foot-6, 290-pounds

Recently, PEX's own superstar, Jack Funke, enthusiastically accepted a scholarship to Boston College (B.C.) to play football. He is the second member of the B.C. Eagles 2022 recruiting class.

When asked about how Jack felt about joining the Eagles, Jack's response was:

β€œIt’s very exciting; my parents both played sports at B.C. My dad was a defensive end at B.C. and my mom was a field hockey and lacrosse player and I’ve been going to games since I was a little kid and it is very exciting to be a part of the B.C. program.”

Jack has been working with PT Shawn Sprague to improve his mobility and progressive athletic performance for over a year and we at PEX are super excited for his admittance to B.C. And while Jack has his strength and conditioning coaches at Xaverian to thank for his herculean strength and power, his functional mobility work with Shawn was the perfect compliment to round out his sophisticated training program.

It also doesn't hurt that Jack has incredible determination, perseverance, dedication to his football craft and devotion to improving himself on a daily basis. (He is also one of the nicest human beings you will ever meet.)

For more information on how to boost your athletic performance, and increase resiliency and injury prevention, contact Shawn Sprague here.
