Camden Catholic receives many generous College Scholarship Opportunities from local organizations and businesses.  Information and applications for these Scholarships are posted in Naviance.  Please take advantage of these opportunities.

BASKET DONATION REQUEST

As you know the Parents Association auctions off many FABULOUS BASKETS at our Bag Bingo and we are looking for donations of any kind to fill our baskets with FUN items!
Suggestions include: CASH - Gift cards for Restaurants, Movies or Retailers -Gift certificates for services such as Salons & Spas, Lawn services, Bike shops, Florists & Gyms - Lottery tickets - Sporting event tickets - Sporting or Music memorabilia - Anything Disney - Technical / Electronic devices - Wine / liquor, chocolate, coffee Pet supplies - Hand bags and wallets - Summer & beach, Bath & body, Grilling Golfing, Car care, Gardening items - ANYTHING IRISH.

Donations may be sent into school and given to Mrs Merenyi or to the front office.
Please clearly label your donation for bag bingo and note who the donation is from.

Camden Catholic High School Retreat Program 
Flowing from our mission to develop leaders in a Catholic faith community, the retreat program at Camden Catholic High School is designed to help students engage with their peers in a meaningful way, to provide a spiritual experience outside the classroom, and demonstrate we can be living our faith in all aspects of our lives.   All students at CCHS are required to complete one retreat; many student will complete more than one retreat. 

Information about our retreat program has been sent home separately and reviewed in Religion classes. 
Sign-up sheets for the optional retreats are located in Rm 114.

Campus M inistry
Catholic Relief Services sponsors the Rice Bowl collection each year during Lent. CRS Rice Bowl invites students and families to journey alongside the Good Samaritan. With prayers, fasting and almsgiving the Rice Bowl project supports migrants and refugees and others around the world who are seeking safety and opportunity. Rice bowls were distributed on Feb 20th after an inspiring assembly. 25% of the Rice Bowl collection will stay within the Diocese of Camden for nutrition related efforts with 75% going to worldwide efforts of Catholic Relief Services. We encourage students and families to participate in this life transforming program during Lent. Rice Bowls should be returned to school for collection during homeroom on Monday, March 26th.
 
The Works of Mercy Retreat Part 2: Monday, May 7th from 3:00- 6:00pm at CCHS. For student to meet the school retreat requirement they most attend both retreat sessions. Please check the dates since they have changed to ensure participation in both sessions.
 
Any student who has not made a retreat for the 2017-2018 school year by March 26th must attend the All School retreat on Thursday, March 29th to fulfill the yearly retreat requirement. The dining hall will be providing food service on March 29th for those who are attending the All School Retreat.

Sophomore Parents- School Ring Orders
Class ring measurements will take place in the Pisa Dining Hall on Monday and Tuesday, March 26th and 27th during lunches, and Tuesday, March 27th from 5-7:30pm for both students and parents. Students were given ordering brochures and a postcard should have been mailed home with measurement dates.
 
Junior Prom
The Junior Class Prom will be at Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ on April 20th from 7pm to 11pm. Tickets are now on sale in Rm 230. The cost is $60 per person prior to Easter and $70 per person after Easter.

What does it mean to be a positive sports parent?
Thursday, April 12 at 6 p.m. Dining Hall
All parents of CCHS student-athletes are asked to attend. Topics to be discussed include:
  • Assessing your children's goals, priorities, and desires in sports in comparison with your own.
  • How to have conversations about any disconnects between your goals and theirs.
  • How to talk with your child about practices, games and what they are learning through sports.
  • How to be supportive and encouraging, especially in high pressure situations.
  • Helping your child face adversity by seeing mistakes and defeats as part of the learning process, and by viewing them as opportunities for growth and development.
  • Determining and potentially redefining our measurements for success. 
  • Knowing the importance of recognizing when to talk... and when to listen to your child.
  • Learning PCA's three core principles
  • Redefining success through the "ELM Tree of Mastery"
  • Learning the values of sportsmanship through "Honoring the R.O.O.T.S. of the Game"
  • Focusing on positive encouragement by "Filling Emotional Tanks"

SENIOR REMINDERS:
College Application Transcript Requests
Just a reminder that there is a fee charged for transcripts sent to colleges.  The first 3 are free, additional transcripts are $2 each.  Please monitor Naviance for fees.  Students can submit payment to the guidance office.  
College Acceptances
Seniors should be bringing in all acceptance emails, letters, scholarships etc.  They should be brought to Mrs. Powell in the Guidance Office and we will make copies to keep in their file.

FROM THE OFFICE OF GUIDANCE
Rutgers School of Engineering will hold its final Knight for a Day tour of the spring semester on Friday, April 20 at 10 a.m. This prospective student tour begins at the  Visitor Center with an admissions information session, followed by a five-campus bus tour.  After the bus tour, families will break for lunch (on their own) and head to the school-specific portion of the day at 1 p.m. A detailed itinerary will be provided once  registered
Department options include one of the following:

  • Civil/Environmental & Materials Science
  • Electrical/Computer & Industrial Systems

The SAT vs. ACT, March 31, 4 PM-5:30 PM ET: Do you have parents wondering what the differences are between the SAT and ACT, and which test is best for their child to take? Join us on March 31 as David Staples, a Kaplan teacher and SAT/ACT guru, explains how each test works and how to determine which is the best option for your child's path to college.

We decided to celebrate Pi Day a little differently this year. Using pi as our inspiration, we've put together a video about memorization techniques that can be used to remember everything from math formulas and vocabulary to the many digits of pi.
