Enrollment for 2020-2021
Enrollment Season Is In Full Swing!

Re-enrollment Information for Current Learners
All existing Charter families have received information regarding re-enrollment for current learners. Please check your inbox for a message from SchoolMint with directions. The Enrollment Team greatly appreciates your effort to complete these forms as soon as you receive them. If you have difficulty with re-enrollment please contact support@schoolmint.net or schoolmint@scclc.net for support!

If for any reason you do not intend to re-enroll your child for next year, please contact the Enrollment Team. We appreciate your consideration so we may notify the next person on the waitlist. As a reminder, the school loses valuable funding every day we do not have a child enrolled. Early notification will allow waitlisted learners to shadow prior to the summer holidays. Should you have any difficulties or questions about re-enrollment, please contact the Enrollment Team.

New Family Orientation and Open House Tours
Do you know a family interested in SCC who was unable to attend the Orientation for the 2020-2021 school year? Please have them contact Enrollment Team or Miriam as soon as possible for information on how to register for the adult-only Open House Tour.

Docents Still Needed for Open House Tours
Are you passionate about SCC? Please consider acting as a docent for one of our enrollment Open House Tours. On tour days, after registration and a brief introduction by Stacy at 9 am, select classrooms will be open for observation until 10:30. Parent and learner docents help lead prospective families around the school and are on hand to answer questions about the program and their family's experience. It is a great time to share your love of SCC. Please contact Miriam for more information.

Volunteer Help Wanted
The Upper Garden Needs Your Help!
You may have noticed the gradual installation of the upper garden on our campus this school year. Many of the initial steps that needed to occur are now complete including grading the space, the installation of a shed, drainage and a fence. I am happy to share that we are finally ready to begin the next phase of the installation.

Some of you have expressed interest in helping with this project. To get this up and running, we will need assistance from parents, educators, learners and any interested community members . Click here for the various ways you can be involved and volunteer tasks we've identified. Please consider volunteering for one (or more!) of these tasks. If you are interested please email mmay@scclc.net or huntercynthialynn@gmail.com for details.

Parent Education
Lorea Martinez , Parent Ed Liaison
Our children discussed Martin Luther King, Jr., in school this past week, which brings an opportunity for us, parents, to reflect on what what we can do to raise kids who are "includers" and see value in all individuals. Our role is key since the implicit biases that we have are passed on to our children. In this great article, Jennifer Miller provides tips for how to unlearn our implicit bias.

Coming up on Tuesday, you can learn about breaking down the barriers on teen mental health. And on Wednesday, join other CLC parents for an “ Art and Wine Parent Night” with Behavior Specialist and Registered Art Therapist Sara Barulich. In this self-care session, you will learn the therapeutic value of creating mindful art through Zentangling. For more details and to RSVP, click here. Adults only.

Appreciations
  • Huge thanks to the Enrollment Team and all the educators who came out in support of the Enrollment Orientations last week. We hosted over 100 families eager to learn about our program, and we couldn't have done it without you all!
  • A tremendous thanks to our 5/6 educator team and parent volunteers Tate Blahnik, Karen Kaufman, Josh Saffren, and Jon Vetter for all the hard work, dedication and patience that went in to pulling off extremely memorable 6th grade and 5th grade milestones. And special shout out to the 5/6 educators who held down the fort over the last two weeks.
  • The 6th grade appreciates Deena Bertolina for helping organize the medications on the 6th grade milestone to Yosemite last week!
  • Thank you to the Lost and Found squad, Dena, Deena, Kelly, and Dorinda, for helping keep our campus clean and organized and making sure our students easily find their lost items.
  • A HUGE thank you to Katherine Sherman for her thoughtfulness (and skill!) She made and delivered an entire steaming vat of incredibly delicious red lentil soup with North African spices (along with a tray of sandwiches) to the Staff on our rainy Thursday last week... "just because." We are all so grateful for the nourishment and warmth for both body and soul!
