As we approach the end of the school year it is important that we have up-to-date information for every student. Please look at the following items and make sure that you are prepared for next year!
EMAIL ADDRESS - Does the school have your email address so that you receive important reminders and know when to complete the online registration update this summer?
HOME ACCESS CENTER (HAC) - Do you know your HAC login and password? It is important that you know this so that you can check your child's progress and see their report card. If you need this information, please contact an AP secretary or the registrar.
MOVING FROM MCKINNEY? -If your child will be moving to a school other than an MISD school, please contact Lynne Wells, Lywells@mckinneyisd.net, prior to the end of the year so that we can give you the withdrawal papers you will need to enroll at the new school.
|
IS YOUR STUDENT GOING TO GET A LEARN'S PERMIT TO DRIVE THIS SUMMER? |
I know that the thought of your student getting a learner's permit is probably scary, but they will need a Verification of Enrollment (VOE) when they apply at the Texas Department of Public Safety. If your child turns 15 over the summer and will be applying for a learner's permit, please make sure to request a VOE from the registrar before the last day of school. VOE's are NOT required to enroll in driver's education programs, they are only needed when you actually apply for the permit. Please contact Lynne Wells, lywells@mckinneyisd.net
, to obtain a VOE.

Box Tops since our last contest, we are keeping track!

The first time she saw him, she flipped. The first time he saw her, he ran. That was the second grade, but not much has changed by the seventh. She says: "My Bryce. Still walking around with my first kiss." He says: "It's been six years of strategic avoidance and social discomfort." But in the eighth grade everything gets turned upside down. And just as he's thinking there's more to her than meets the eye, she's thinking that he"s not quite all he seemed. This is a classic romantic comedy of errors told in alternating chapters by two fresh, funny new voices. Wendelin Van Draanen is at her best here with a knockout cast of quirky characters and a hilarious series of misunderstandings and missed opportunities. But underlying the humor are two teens in transition. They are each learning to look beyond the surface of people, both figuring out who they are, who they want to be, and who they want to be with.

We are so lucky to have so many wonderful volunteers who make it possible for us to make our school the very best it can be! Please remember that if you are a returning volunteer, or maybe a first time MISD volunteer, that you must go online to fill out a Volunteer Application and be approved before you can serve in any capacity where you will have contact with students. Sometimes this takes a couple of weeks, so please do it as soon as possible! We need you!!!
Click HERE to go directly to the link.
Thank you so very much! We look forward to having you on our campus!
Note:
Volunteer applications may take up to two weeks to be processed.
If after two weeks you have not been contacted regarding your volunteer status, please contact MISD Human Resources at 469-302-4117. DO NOT contact staff members at schools regarding your volunteer application. Your application is a confidential matter.
Once you are approved, you will be able to volunteer in the district throughout the school year.

IMPORTANT PARENT INFORMATION |
Dear Parents,
Although some of he following information is not new, we would like to remind you of a few policies we have in place here at Evans Middle School. We can't thank you enough for your cooperation!
*For the safety and security of all MISD students and staff, everyone is required to show government issued ID (driver's license, identification card, passport etc.) upon entering the campus or accessing student information.
*In the event your student forgets an item at home, you are welcome to leave it on the cabinet in the front office. Please make sure it is clearly and visibly marked with your student's name. We cannot be responsible for anything left on the cabinet and all food items will be thrown out at 3:45pm. In an effort to keep our classrooms as free from disruption as possible, we will not make phone calls or deliveries to students for items left for pick up.
*We are happy to have your student come to the front office to be checked out once you are in the building, but we do not call students in advance. This will keep our students in the classroom as much as possible. If your student is in a fine arts class, lunch or a PE/Athletics class, please allow for additional time when picking them up. Please be sure that the person picking up your student is on your contact list. We will need to see your driver's license every time you enter campus. Thank you in advance for your help with this.
*We will not be able to call a classroom for dismissal after 3:15pm in order to minimize disruption at the end of the school day. If you must pick your student up at the end of the day, please arrive in plenty of time to meet this deadline. We appreciate your understanding.
*While you are welcome to bring lunch up to school for your child, bringing food to anyone other than your student is prohibited. This is a federally mandated directive.
