For our new members who may be unfamiliar with Rabbi Rose, he has been our "visiting Rabbi Scholar" for much of the existence of TCS/NT. He joins us for Shabbat several times a year and leads our High Holiday services, but more than that, his wisdom, humor, insights, compassion, and great love for our community always inspires us to dig a little deeper into what it means to be a Jew.

Rabbi Rose is a founding faculty member of Hebrew College in Newton Centre, MA, and is currently the Director of the College's Miller Center for Interreligious Learning & Leadership.

Join Us For a Solidarity Shabbat With Rabbi Or Rose
Saturday, May 4th, 9:30 am
at the Synagogue

In light of the recent attack at the Poway Chabad Synagogue, our Shabbat service will include special prayers of mourning, lament, and solidarity. Following our tefilah (prayer service), we will engage in a group study, focusing on the period between Passover and Shavuot - Sefirat Ha'Omer - as a time for personal and communal reflection and refinement.

Let us come together this Shabbat to stand with our brothers and sisters in Poway, and in solidarity against hate and bias.
Yom HaShoah - Holocaust Remembrance Day
Sunday, May 5th at 2pm
at the Synagogue

Yellow Star candle sculpture by Israeli artist Chanock Ben-Dov.
On Sunday, May 5th, we will gather at the Synagogue to commemorate Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. We will be screening the 1995 film, "Anne Frank Remembered," an award-winning documentary, narrated by Kenneth Branagh and Glenn Close. This moving film features previously released archival material as well as contemporary interviews with Frank family friends, relatives, and Miep Gies, the woman who risked death to shelter the family.

In addition to the film, we will be exhibiting photos documenting a Holocaust-themed installation project by three Chatham High School 9th grade english classes. The project, titled, "Good vs. Evil: What Happens When Good and Evil Collide" was based on their reading of the Elie Wiesel autobiographical masterpiece, "Night."

The film will be followed by memorial prayers and candle-lighting.

In this fifth part of our  now 6-part series, we will explore the dangers that ensue when the logic of power is undermined by the logic of love. We will be reading from 2 Samuel, Chapters 13 through 19, verse 9.

Happy 20th Anniversary To Us

TCS/NT is celebrating a milestone anniversary - it's been 20 years since our founding and as part of our year long commemoration, we'll be having a member's only celebration on July 13th that will feature, among other things, a journal with stories and reminiscences by both founder members and newer members.

The journal will also contain business ads and congratulatory ads from members and community friends. The revenue from these ads will help us continue to provide religious services open to all; educational, entertainment, and cultural events open to all of the Chatham-area community; as well as community-based social action programs, and interfaith activities.

If you would like to purchase an individual or business ad (or both) you can download pdfs of either ad form or email us at tcsntupdate@gmail.com to arrange another way of accessing the forms.

Congratulations

Come join fellow TCS/NT knitters for a good cause! The TCS/NT Social Action Committee is looking for volunteers to knit hats, scarves, and mittens that will be donated to the Chatham Head Start Program this coming Fall/Winter. This past winter, when we distributed gifts to the program's toy drive  we couldn't help notice there was also a need for warm winter gear. Put your knitting skills to good use for a great cause!
