We Need Your Support! Consider Hosting an Amity Intern During the 2019-2020 School Year
We are looking for 18+ host families for our Amity interns in the 2019-2020 school year . As a host family you gain a new, unique friendship and learning experience by welcoming an intern from a Spanish speaking country into your home. Additionally, your child will benefit from extra practice and help with their Spanish language skills.

We are adding some flexibility to the hosting duration with the addition of a half-year option. This will allow us to make better family/intern matches as well as potentially improve the experience for both interns and families.  If you are interested, please refer to the  FAQ's  for more information, then complete the  Amity Intern Host Family Application  and send it to  amity@puestadelsolpta.org

The application due date has been extended to May 17.
However, we will continue to collect applications until we achieve our goal and/or establish a wait-list.

Staff Spotlight:

Sra. Rocio Lara McCleary (Sra. Lara)

2nd Grade Teacher

Sra. Lara is a warm and welcoming teacher in the 2nd grade team. A fellow parent shared:
"2nd grade was a turning point in my daughter's elementary school years, much to the credit of Sra. Lara, who brought fun to her teaching environment." A highlight for some of her students was when she brought her  Chihuahua  to school. Another fond memory for a student: "we got to write our own books, and had a small library where we could read each other's books".

Sra. Lara was born in Mexico.  She has a 25 year history in teaching and has been at Puesta del Sol for 17 years. We are lucky to have this consistent longevity on the 2nd grade team.

Outside of teaching she is learning to row, as her husband is a rowing coach and is passing on the skill to her. She is very excited to have this new hobby.

Give Sra. Lara a smile and a "thank you" when you see her!
